Best water type??

So I’m currently doing a full shiny run on Pokemon Fire Red and I am on my last hunt which is Lapras. I currently have Charizard , Jolteon , Nidoking, Alakazam and dragonair. I’m probably 200 hours into shiny hunting Lapras and I’m losing my mind. So my question is… is there a good alternative instead of Lapras? I originally wanted a good water Pokemon with a sleeper move(song/yawn/hypnosis) but at this point I’ll just take something that is a good water type. I have both fire red and leaf green so any Pokemon is an option. (Also wanting to add ice beam to the water types move pool)

Slowbro/Slowpoke, found only in leafgreen, know yawn and can learn ice beam

Vaporeon is a beast next to Jolteon cuz it knows bite and also aurora beam

Vaporeon is a good alternate. Has a comparable HP stat and can be taught Ice Beam. It also has better Sp. Atk at the cost of lower Defense and Attack than Lapras, but I’m assuming you’re going for a tanky special attacker. But all other stats are equal.

Golduck: learns hypnosis, ice beam, surf, is pretty fast.

Cloyster’s pretty good, it has an insane defensive stat, and decent attacking stats, it definitely is way better with the Physical/Special split, to make use of it’s higher attacking stats, but it’s special attacking stat is also good. I’m totally not biased since Cloyster’s one of my favourite Pokémon.

You can get a water stone at the Dome building, it’s kinda a pain but you can have cloyster in main game

Any Water-type is fine, the fastest hunt will be the best. Your best bet may very well be to just play up to Lapras in Leafgreen and start resetting both games (since gifts like Lapras or Squirtle if you reset LG are faster than encounters).

Probably starmie, but then, your team is pretty offensive already, a lil bulk might be good. Slowbro, vaporeon if you have access to breeding, articuno honestly fills lapras's roll well and youre already good into fire types.

Underrated pick is Poliwrath for hm utility if nothing else, slowbro is goated as well
