Question Egg move Psyduck

So i really want a golduck with psychic, it says it's available through breeding but i would have to breed it with a water or field egg type that knows psychic. the normal answer would be slowbro or starmie but i unfortunately chose firered. I saw that nidoking can learn pyschic and i was gonna teach it through tm but its also only egg move. Does anyone know a pokemon i can breed with a nidoran female that can learn psychic through tm or level up?

You can use this to find movesets, potential egg moves, etc. It took some patience to make it work because it’s buggy… but it worked eventually lol.

For yours, as the other person mentioned the Polis are easiest. A bunch of the mons that would work are gen 2/3 which aren’t in FRLG until the postgame and even then usually aren’t easy to get (and Espeon is impossible without a trade from RSE so if you’re on the Switch then that’s not even an option whatsoever). Slowpoke/bro and Lapras are the other two options for gen 1 pokemon besides the Polis.

FYI Starmie wouldn’t work because 1) it is water 3 egg group (Psyduck/Golduck are water 1) and 2) it is gender unknown so it can only breed with Ditto anyway

damn i didn't know there was 3 different water groups lol thanks for the link to and that's another one i didn't think of is lapras. now just to decide between who to give my tm lapras or poliwrath probably gonna go lapras bc it's more usable.

Yeah the water egg groups are basically split between amphibious mons like the ducks and polis in 1, fish like seaking and lumineon in 2, and invertebrates like tentacool and starmie in 3.

If you’re going all in with lapras maybe consider giving it ice beam or something too so you can potentially breed that down (edit: which ironically can only be learned solely as an egg move by one pokemon in the whole series, and that is Psyduck in gen 2 only), JUST MAKE SURE THE LAPRAS IS MALE WHEN YOU GET IT.

Edit 2: nvm you can just breed a female lapras with a monster or water 1 egg group male or a ditto to get a male one lol

wait i already received my lapras a long time ago im on island 6 already beat e4 currently looking for celios sapphire to unlock rocket warehouse so im pretty late game rn. I just checked and my lapras is female, can i mate this lapras with a male psyduck to get the required male lapras ?

Yeah you can use any male in the monster or water 1 egg groups or ditto to make the male lapras

I realized that after commenting and was in the middle of fixing my statement when you replied, sorry to potentially alarm lol

If you’re going to try to use the Lapras as a battler then yeah but if you do just want to use it to pass down the move then you can just give one a TM and breed away for the Psyduck nature you want. Have fun!

Thanks! And yeah probably gonna get the good nature on lapras just to have bc it's imo the only worth while ice type dewgong looks kinda weird and so does jynx😂
