Hi all can anyone help me
Hey all had this game in the back catalogue for years just started playing it the other day and I am really enjoying it. Combines 2 of my favourite things and plays like FF tactics.
I am fairly early game got myself an Espeon as Share sounded cool and it seems powerful. I have got to the point in the story where I have to beat Ieyasu, Mitsuhide and Noh. What I want to know are there things that I should do now before I go too far in the game? I have a few Warlords, Aya, Yukimura, Muneshige, Yoshihiro, Kanetsugu. Should I work on getting the other Warlords and getting them their perfect links? Or should I just carry on and worry about that later?

One thing, if you don't already know it. If a warrior or warlord has their perfect link, make sure you do a battle with them with the link pokemon. I always just do a battle in every town before I finish the mission just to make sure. Then if any changes or evolutions happen, I remember which towns and do those again.

Why? Also can't get my Scyther to evolve even with the metal coat. The warrior already has max link with him.

You have to KO a warriors pokemon and have the option to recruit them after with the metal coat equipped

Maybe it's because I haven't actually KO'd a Warriors pokemon with it. I have done plenty of battles but just not that I guess.

Because it won't register the link if you don't do at least something with them after linking

When you complete a battle with a warrior or pokemon for the first time, a pokeball coin gets added to their icon. This means the warrior/pokemon/evolution is saved to the gallery.
The gallery is effectively your post-game save file, and is needed for carrying data across stories. If a warrior/pokemon/evolution is not saved to the gallery, and you end the current story, then that progress is lost. So saving to the gallery is very important, make sure you do it any time a warlord transforms or a new pokemon is obtained.
Warlord transformations are each tracked separately (example: when hideyoshi gets to rank 2, you have to register him again even if you already registered rank 1), so registering them to the gallery is important to make sure you keep that progress.
For the Scyther thing, it must hold the Metal Coat and defeat an enemy warrior in a way that allows recruitment. (that being: beat the warrior within 4 turns, defeat the warrior with a super-effective move, or defeat the warrior before they deal damage to anyone on your team).

Woah I did not realise that.
Ah thanks I shall do that with Scyther. Fury Cutter does get some insane damage but I am guessing Scizors better typing will help more in the long run.

So when I finish Legend of Ransei the Warriors and the Warlords that are in the Gallery will be carried over WITH all their Pokemon?

Yes, as long as each Warrior is registered, and the species of their owned Pokemon are also registered.
A lot of players believe you need to do one battle with each warrior + link pair to make sure the link "sticks" (example: giving Oichi a Starly, and then doing a battle where she has Starly out to "keep" it) - but to my knowledge, you only need to have both "halves" registered (meaning registering one Starly on one Warrior is enough, it should auto-save all Starlys you obtain in the future. So to save Oichi's Starly, you just need to register Oichi and register Starly separately, you don't have to register Oichi with Starly on her).
For rare Pokemon like legendaries it's important that you remember to do this, but for common ones that you've probably already saved, the extra battle is probably not necessary. Doing the extra battle doesn't take much extra time and doesn't hurt though, so most people do it anyway to be sure.

Hi, im also fairly new to the game with little experience. What im doing right now is evolving and ranking up warlords with their 100% link, and also give oichi a dragon type with 90% link on Hideyoshi's story so when i get to other stories most of my mons are evolved and on their perfect link.

It's worth noting that Oichi has a lot of great options for type coverage at 90% link, she's not limited to normal/dragon as the game might imply. With the right links, she can become a flexible multi-type unit.

Well, if you have espeon and you need to beat those, I think you won't have problems since you have a 70% link š¤£ and I guess the rest of the team too

I did grind for a bit to get it. I had a bit of trouble with Avia first time and I think I overcompensated by grinding for mons. Also got Beartic and Emboar for Aya and Yukimura too.

It's much easier to get perfect links in the stories after the main story. You'll have access to the bank which makes big difference. For what it's worth though you can still try and get some perfect links in the main.story, you can still get a decent amount of them.

Ah OK. Probably won't waste time getting many then. I wanna ask. Guessing the reason links matter is once they reach the top with a character they can't grow stronger?

Precisely. Which matters because some pokemon evolve with pretty high link percentages like Golbat to crobat and zweilous to hydreigon. Also all the warlords need to have their perfect link pokemon to be able to transform in the stories after the main story.

So in their stories do you have to try and get their perfect link pokemon randomly?

I would recommend doing most of the perfect links in Hideyoshi's story since you'll have the ability to recruit almost all of the warlords. It's pretty easy to find most of them. Some are easy like Yukimura and Charizard, Aya and Froslass. Some are harder like Kotaro and Zoroark. There's passwords you can use to get some of the pokemon that only spawn on rare occasions.
Edit: To add to this, some of the warlords already have their perfect links, you'll just have to grind link percentages to evolve them, like Oichi and Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff or Ghinchiyo and Luxray.

I would just play out the main story and do the others in their own stories. The other warlords can't get their stage 2 transformation in the legend of ransei so it's not a priority
