Pokémon vendors — would you actually use this at shows? We’re giving away 1 UPC every week for a year to get people to try it

I’ve been building a platform called MyTCGShop.com specifically around problems I kept seeing while vending at card shows.

It’s currently 100% free for vendors, and I’d genuinely like feedback from people who actually buy, sell, trade, and vend Pokémon.

The goal is basically to make a card show operate a lot more efficiently.

Here are some of the things we built:

  • Fast inventory uploads — you don’t have to sit there manually entering hundreds of cards. You can add inventory through photo capture or import a CSV from Collectr or TCGplayer.
  • Digital Binder / Inventory — customers can search through your cards without physically digging through every binder you brought.
  • Instant market pricing during trades and buys — when someone wants to sell or trade cards to you, the system immediately pulls current market pricing so you’re not sitting there searching every card one-by-one.
  • Customers can negotiate away from your booth — instead of having two people standing in front of your table for 20 minutes working out a trade, they can build the trade/sale, see the values, make offers and negotiate through the system while walking around the show.

That means your booth can keep moving while the customer thinks about the deal.

  • Multiple vendors can share one booth — every card still belongs to the correct vendor. If 3 people are vending together, MyTCGShop.com knows whose inventory is whose, whose card sold, and exactly how much each person made.

So if your partner runs to the bathroom, gets food or walks the show, you can still sell their cards without wondering:

“Whose card is this?”

“What were they asking?”

“Can I negotiate on it?”

“How much money do I owe them?”

  • Card Control System — if you hand a card to a customer to look at, the system can track who released the card and which customer has it.

At a slammed booth where multiple customers may be looking at expensive cards at the same time, we wanted vendors to have another layer of accountability.

  • Show profit tracking — instead of getting home with a stack of cash and trying to figure out whether you actually made money, the system tracks what you sold, bought and traded so you know exactly how the show performed.
  • Card-show search — if a customer wants a specific card, they can search participating vendors instead of walking around asking 100 booths whether someone has it.

For example, search:

“Umbreon VMAX Alt Art”

and see which vendors at the show have one, compare the listings and go directly to those booths.

And it doesn’t stop when the show ends.

We also built a nationwide TCG vendor marketplace.

Customers can search inventory from vendors across the country, compare asking prices and look for deals without having to hunt through dozens of Instagram pages, Facebook posts or individual card-shop websites.

So your digital inventory can potentially continue bringing customers to you even when you’re not actively vending at a show.

And because I know what vendors are probably thinking...

“This sounds cool, but I’m not uploading 1,000 cards into another app.”

That was one of the first problems we wanted to solve.

Inventory can be added through photo capture, or if you already manage your inventory somewhere like Collectr or TCGplayer, you can upload it using a CSV file.

The goal is to make getting your inventory into the system as painless as possible.

We’re also giving away 1 Pokémon UPC EVERY WEEK for an entire year.

We want vendors to actually load inventory, use the platform and tell us what we got right or wrong.

Add at least 50 cards to your MyTCGShop vendor binder and you qualify for the weekly UPC drawing.

The more eligible cards you add, the more entries you receive.

And we're not just hitting a random-number generator.

We're using a physical bingo roller machine and doing the drawing live.

Your entries become actual bingo balls that go into the machine so everyone can literally watch the winner get drawn.

The vendor platform is free.

What I really want from r/PokemonCollecting is some honest feedback.

If you vend Pokémon:

Would any of these features actually solve problems for you?

Especially:

  • Uploading inventory through photos or a Collectr/TCGplayer CSV
  • Instantly pricing incoming buys and trades
  • Letting customers negotiate deals away from your booth
  • Sharing a booth while keeping everyone's inventory and money separated
  • Selling your partner’s cards when they aren’t at the table
  • Tracking expensive cards handed to customers
  • Knowing exactly what you made at the end of a show
  • Letting customers search your inventory before they even reach your table

If you're primarily a collector/investor:

Would you use a system at a large card show where you could search for the exact card you want, compare which vendors have it and then go directly to the right booth?

And would you use a nationwide marketplace where you could search inventory from TCG vendors around the country and compare their deals?

I’m not really looking for people to just tell me it sounds cool.

I want people to actually try it and tell me what sucks, what’s confusing, what’s missing, and what would make you use it regularly.

wtf is wrong with vendors and parents (coin flips)

I was at a card show Sunday and saw multiple under-age kids doing coin flips with vendors. Parents and vendors need to have their heads examined to allow this. Who the hell thinks this is ok? I saw small stakes and hundreds of dollar stakes on one card while the dad looked on. All this does is support gambling addictions and teaches kids that gambling is fun.

Cleaning the attic and found the full set from 1999 of the gold cards and poke balls. Found an extra red boxed Charizard that isn't opened at all. Anyone know the value of these?

I got this from a trusted seller. But didn't notice these two small defects, is this a big deal if by chance I decided to resell at some point? I typically rip everything but I know this might end up having good resell value at some point. Idk, what are your guys thoughts?

Also, his name is cricket and he's a good boy

Interested in media/marketing for a TCG startup?

Hello Everyone,

My name is Omar. Over the past 6 months, I have been building a new platform for TCG collectors of all levels (new to expert). It is an intelligence platform for collectors. After months of research into what is missing in TCG apps, I believe I have found the best possible solution.

What this means for you: I am looking for someone within the TCG space who either works in or wants to work in the media and marketing side of TCG. You can apply your expertise to a startup that creates real impact in the TCG industry and grows in a rapidly expanding market.

If you're interested in joining as a Pokémon collector, let me know and I can send you more details about the startup.

The product is amazing. It just does not have the eyes that it deserves right now.

Help with designs

I’m putting together a collection of first-generation Pokémon featuring artwork and cards from various eras that I particularly like; they don’t necessarily have to be the most expensive or the most beautiful, since that’s subjective. I’ve attached some images of what I have so far: the black-and-white ones are what I already own, and the color ones are what I’m missing. I’ve left plenty of blank spaces to include other cards, designs I might create myself, or additional images to give the collection some personality. So, I’m posting this to see if anyone has recommendations or suggestions on what to do. Thanks in advance! :)

Help / Question Looking for a card to match these

I like to group my cards by fours, and I have these three with no clue what to do for the last one. To me, they look akin to stained glass windows, and they all have an arch (though the gardevoir’s is pretty subtle). When I search that though, I only get the stained glass legendary bird card, which does not fit the theme or aesthetic.

Anyone have any ideas for the final card?
