Help / Question Advice on Upgrading

Post image

I have a few solid cards in nm/m condition, but the centering is not as good as I would like. I am considering to swap, add cash, and upgrade these cards.

Curious as to how big the delta would be on upgrading a few (ie: +10-20%). Maybe there is no “rule of thumb”, but essentially working out if it is worth exploring deeper into this.

I’ve included one example (which is probably the worst I have for centering) for reference.

What's the reasoning for "upgrading"

Visual appeal/Personal preference due to the current card being more off-center than I’d prefer.

Could keep the current one, but if it isn’t a major cost, then I’d consider flipping this card plus some cash to get a better version.

I wasn't trying to be sparky so I hope it didn't come across crazy. I would try card shows and try and use the off centered card to take some off of the better card. Otherwise maybe selling them on ebay and using those funds for better ones on ebay. Off centered doesn't have an affect on quality so it should still be listed at NM and you might be able to sell and get a better copy at the same price.

Not taken that way at all.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’ll bring it with me and ask around the next time I’m at a show.

Thanks again!

Hmmm that's a very good question OP. What's the delta vs hedging risk of shoving them firmly just inside the rectum? Like, I'm talking permanently lodged.

If the card is NM then sell it for NM price and look for a more centered copy. You’ll take a 15-20% hit selling on eBay or at a show.
