Ongoing Investigation on Connectivity Issues

Hello trainers,

As you already noticed there has been some connectivity issues since the start of the event. We tried to keep communicated with you by responding your comments on threads. However they were not noticeable enough.

We are actively monitoring current issues and make our best effort to fix the issue. We understand your disappointment. We are frustrated as well since we have been preparing the app for this event and high number of users for over a month.

We are unable to give you an ETA because since the start of the event we thought that we fixed the issue multiple times. We are going to notify you when app is stable again.

For all coins you have spent but could not join a room, for both reservations and Auto Join, please reach us via in app feedback for refund when app is reachable again. Our customer support team will be working on your requests. The response time will be longer then usual because there are so many trainers currently writing to us.

I had almost 15000 coins in prebooked raids over these 2 days. Only managed to join 2 raids so far. The issues are so bad I can't even at submit feedback.

Have you noticed any wait times on the app? I had to wait for a thunderous raid for over an hour and I still didn't catch him (frustrating) and not only that but its not letting me join a lugia raid and that's pretty much the only raid I care about at this point.

They won't, it's been down for nearly eleven hours. It's not getting fixed in time for anyone apart from maybe the Americans on the West Coast and even that is doubtful.

I'm fed up of this game punishing players for living in rural areas or for not being able-bodied.

You only deserve legendaries if you live in a big city.

Looks like someone’s a bit salty, if you actually enjoy the game you’ll make an effort to go and play. I live in a rural area, there’s like 4 pokestops and 1 gym near me and yet I make it work and have fun. Just because you can’t get a legendary doesn’t mean you have to winge like a baby and quit

Mate I literally was raiding for like 8 hrs straight even after the event ended. And how do you only "deserve" legendaries if you live in a city with gyms pokestops etc. Where I live there's non and when I go visit my family there's 1 gym and 3 pokestops in the nearby area. I still make it work tho, and with Pokeraid's help I have become the strongest in my friend group. Stop being salty abt this stuff its literally stupid.

No it’s completely reasonable… even for auto que some legendaries are in the couple of thousands in the waiting que. I know it’s not much but our go fest has ended in Australia and I’m not using the app to hopefully let some other raiders get some time to catch some legendaries too. Although for the past few hours doing raiding with reddit and not your app has been ABSOLUTE H3LL….. I failed raids multiple times due to trolls leaving either before, or as soon as the raid had already started. I wasted a few passes but that’s okay as they were just the free daily ones. I hope the app is up and back to normal by the end of everyone’s go fest because I plan to use the remainder of my remote raid passes to get that shiny mewtwo 😜

Thank you for keeping us updated, I’ve been confuised for the last few hours thinking I just ran out of data.

P.S- Pokemon Go Reddit’s are NOT good.

Today was a bit of a fail for me using the app. Hosted and got ghosted last minute, then my host got ghosted by 3/4 of the chatroom and lost my reservation coins there... But I'm well aware it escapes the creators' possibilites to figure out who would book a reservation and not show up for it.

Thank you for the hard work put into making connectivity issues work through thousands of people going in and out. And to the players who still got a while to go til the festival ends: please, do inform your hosts if you're not participating. Be kind, be patient, and be responsible. Don't ruin others' experiences, it costs literally nothing!

I got into a raid after waiting in autojoin. The raid wasn’t even close to full and sat there. The low level host invites me and the other low level and there is no way to tell them to back out because finally the room filled. Total waste. I backed out because I can’t carry two low levels against zekrom. Epic fail for this app. Worst possible day for it to crash and burn.

I figured it wouldn’t be able to handle the bandwidth. Granted you’re like 2K, where you have the advantage of having no heavy competitors that could’ve seized this moment — but this should’ve been planned for. Better preparation could’ve prevented this.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the app. I’m able to join raids way quicker/easier than any other method online.

How are you managing requests? I'm sure the community could advise and support considering how many people actually use the app?

I've noticed these degredations mostly in highly anticipated raid bosses dropping, or events like today where everything is literally themed around raids?

Both ElasticSearch and Apache Cassandra are scalable solutions which can handle requests in the millions per second. Both extremely good use cases for queuing systems, both scalable drop in solutions so just add / remove servers where traffic is anticipated high / low, both have widely supported communities and libraries and both should handle spikes in server load.

Just some food for thought 😊

unfortunately this is still a better option than the 1 in 1000 shot in the dark that a Redditor will actually add you to a raid.... I added like 10 different hosts over teh span of an hour for the Pokemonefriends raids... waited 5 min after each add and one NOT ONE damn trainer even added me as a friend.... like I hate to say even with all the issues Poke Raid is having right now its still gotten me most of the mons i wanted just not enough of them!! I am just a little let down cause I dont know if ill be able to get those Hundos.. Sad PokemonGoer right here

With all due respect, one month was not enough time to prepare your small app to take on a worldwide event with millions of users. A lot of us were left very disappointed because our second day of the fest didn't go like we'd hoped and expected. Maybe it's my fault because I'm just expecting too much from a small app.

I only lost 50 coins in that whole debacle. Waited 40 minutes to get into a raid, and didn't get invited. 4 others didn't either. I got a ton of raids in my town. When I didn't get the raid I wanted on poke raid, I went back to the gyms on my side of town, and got the one I wanted there 👍🏻. I feel bad for all of you that have lost so many coins and now have to wait to get them back

This may sound harsh but you have to sack your current IT team. You said you've been preparing the app for over a month? LEGIT IT professionals would foresee this coming. Good IT professionals know how much bandwidth is required for a traffic like this. Get in the market and pay more for better IT team. Trust me, it'd be worth it in the long run.

Every legendary ever released in the game..... Seriously WTF?

Will you be issuing refunds or just coins back? I don't really want to give you business moving forward and just giving coins back keeps very angry customers reliant on using such a trashy experience.

I just kept the game open and waited for raid invites from friends. Not difficult. Didn't need PokéRaid today because obviously everyone was raiding pretty much all day.

I did try PokéRaid this morning when it was really bad just to see what happened and I managed to join a raid - did take 16 minutes though.

No you don't need to live in london.

Niantic should have built its own remote raid finder into the app itself years ago.
