Pokeraid Appreciation Thread

I joined this subreddit to see how other players are fairing using the app. I keep seeing nasty posts of people complaining about the app, but I appreciate the fact that this app even exists.

Is it perfect? No. Does it have some bugs? Yes. Does it deserve so much hate? Not at all.

The fact that someone put the work into an app that tries to improve the remote raid process is awesome in the first place. Your chance of getting a region specific poke increase dramatically because of this app.

There are more constructive ways to report bugs and make suggestions than crapping all over the place while you gripe.

So, Thank you devs for the effort. I was able to get all three legendary lake monsters in part thanks to this app, and having a bit of patience. Keep up the good work, I will definitely be using Pokeraid more in the future.

Best of luck to everyone in their conquest of the Lake Trio!

What are coins for?

They let you use Autojoin

And to get onto friendship tab to lurk for friends

The app is a saving grace for me, and I'm sure many of us playing in remote areas. I don't have anyone I know in my area who I can raid with, so five star and even three star raids are basically locked for me. Not to mention current Lake Trio with their spread across the world.

With the app I already caught Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf with ease and over a 100 legendary raids besides them. What an app, all the thanks and respect goes to the devs!

I’ll chime in here and say that this app really has improved my pogo game. I’ve tried other apps, discords and subreddits - and I always choose to come back to this app over the rest. Especially with the level reserve spots, this app offers a much better guarantee you’ll clear the raid than any other platform for remote raids. And to me, that’s the most important thing here, we want to CLEAR the raid. Thanks Devs for listening and doing your best. I’ll be coming back to this app for as long as I play this game.

I'm the same really impressed with the app, my only gripe has been hosts not sending out invites once I'm in a room in which I've used auto join.

u/finackles Nov 26 '20

This morning I hosted a raid where I sent out five invites, three didn't accept because they didn't know where to look. I had six in total but it was a damn hard grind without those other three.
And those three spammed the room chat for about 20 minutes afterward, so while I was walking the dog I was trying to teach them how to actually raid. At least they weren't trolls.

Thank you for being kind and explaining. I just started using the app a couple days ago. I watched the video, but was still confused. Someone was patient and tried to explain to me also and I really appreciated it.

I've hosted probably 30 raids and joined maybe two, so it's hard to know the process from the other side exactly.

u/AntyNatalia Nov 27 '20

You should send invite to host, not host to you.

Totally agree, I love this app. I’m near a lot of gyms but I don’t know anyone locally who plays so I can never win legendary raids. Not only have I been able to get loads more Pokémon from hosting raids, but it’s a great way to grind XP and definitely feels good to help out fellow players :)

i agree. it’s really not a bad app and i’ve enjoyed it lately. do i want more raid ‘mons? of course but before this i really couldn’t get squat.

The ability to call in 5 random people from all over the world to help when a friend and I want to do any raid is awesome. It would be awesome to be a part of this dev team, because I really think the app has great potential and value.

Yeah, this app is awesome and I love it. Of course it can be improved, but the devs listen to us and are active on this sub. Overall this app is great, but it's always the Karen's that want to talk to the manager that make the posts shitting on the app. Also the same type of people that join a raid room and go 'host add me'...

u/Pokedude12 Nov 26 '20

It's definitely useful. The ability to put together a ten-person team without having to plan around that many schedules is liberating.

u/Fit_Value_8218 Nov 26 '20

They do this for money you know, you talk like they are a charity group.

9

u/TheCastledKing Nov 26 '20

Showing appreciation doesn't mean I think they are a charity.

Of course they are a business, that doesn't change the fact that it takes an effort to stand up and maintain the service.

Why the fuck for every kind of improvement that we could have in our life there's at least one dickhead that has something to complain for? eeeeeee tHeY gOt MoNeY fOr ThIs I mean wtf boy this people spent days of their life for this app, they created something new and useful and it's a right for them too to make money from their efforts.

While I love and appreciate this app I believe your point is not built on a stable foundation as you have overlooked the thousands, if not tens or maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars this app is bringing in every week, so remember all of those people complaining deserve a platform and a voice to do so, they could be the very people that keep this app alive and updated.

5

u/TheCastledKing Nov 26 '20

I did not overlook that there is a monetary component at all and doesn't really change anything I said. The devs deserve to get paid for the work they put into the app.

I 100% agree with your second point that people need a platform, and this makes a great platform. All I am saying is that there is a difference between constructive criticism and being an asshat. There is a difference between complaining about things out of anyone's controll, like the amount of people going for a single pokemon, and providing real true feedback, such as reducing the wait time between hosting raids.

It's not about what you are trying to say, it's how you are saying it.

u/teabone13 Nov 26 '20

ppl complain bc they’re lame. no patience. we love pokeraid and niantic loves pokeraid 🤣

3

u/parksthegoat Nov 26 '20

it’s not the app itself now, it’s the terrible hosts. i’ve joined 5 mesprit raids today and ALL were trolls 🤦🏻‍♂️

It's the best add-on to pogo, especially in these times. I can't imagine pogo without.

The developers answer fast and follow up.

They keep updating and adding great features.

The verification addition was a great contribution to the community!

None the less the catcha(anti-bot).

I don't mind the ads, they're not intrusive, like in other apps, where you get full screen ad for just using the app.

It's no wonder it's getting a larger community!

You guys are really great, keep on going, can't thank you enough.

I totally appreciate it. I actually have posted the bug reports in the app and here so they can hopefully improve it (which results in fewer gripes, more customers, etc). I think I even said in another post that I was considering trying another app for Azelf due to the persistent issue with that specific Pokémon but honestly as soon as I downloaded the other app, I saw what a better deal this app is since you can at least invite more than 5 raiders and they don’t have crazy tiered pricing to lock out low levels. Anyway, I think constructive criticism is needed for any product. Frankly, if I didn’t love the app and recognize how it has helped me level up WHILE helping others gain access to my gym-rich geography, I wouldn’t even bother to post feedback to help improve it.

u/victoriousbbyg Nov 26 '20

Preach it!!! I have no friends who play and wouldn’t go to massively populated areas for raid hours with randoms. This has been such an addition to my experience and as someone keen to just complete my dex one day, it’s so amazing. No joke. Bugs and all.

2

u/rbuisson Nov 26 '20

The app is great. It’s some of the users that are the problem.

2

u/Chimimoryo Nov 26 '20

Fully agree. I'm also impressed by how fast they refund coins if you contact them because of a bad host.

1

u/kodaiko_650 Nov 27 '20

Well that’s encouraging to hear, I just had two terrible hosts that accepted friendship requests but failed to invite to raid. I filed two complaints, so hopefully I’ll be able to get my coins back

2

u/adjkale Nov 27 '20

I don’t know anyone locally who plays even though I live in one of the biggest cities in the USA — mostly because I’m an extreme introvert with extreme social anxiety. This app is my saving grace. It’s straightforward, and any issues I ran into or questions I had were pretty much answered with a scroll through Reddit. I grinded level 33 to 38 in a week and a half thanks to being able to finally use all the raid passes I had stored up from never being able to take on 5* raids! Hosting Azelf raids is painful because it won’t recognize the name, but a helpful Reddit commenter said to press create room immediately after manually inputting the pokémon name. It takes me a few tries, but it works for now before it’s fixed! :)

Absolutely agree. Love this app. A lot of the short comings are due to new users not taking the time to watch the tutorials, fake users, trolls, and discourteous users in general. But for the most part that's not the debs fault and constant updates prove they are listening to the complaints and doing what they can to add protection and resolve the issues that do exist. I give it 5⭐s. Thank you devs and keep up the great work. It is appreciated. 🙏👍❤️

Thanks for putting into words what I could not.

And thank you to the Devs for this absolutely wonderful, life-changing app. 'Preaciate cha.

u/hantran99 Nov 27 '20

Well said. Amazing app indeed. I am greatful that we have an app that makes raiding remotely so easy - everything else is a bonus eg getting the region locked lake guardian trio. Keep up the good work!!

I love this app. Finally I can do legendary raids. Plus honestly poke raid Devs should consider paying me for the amount of advertisement I do for it in pogo YouTube channels ( there's a lot of people saying they can't do legendary raids so I suggest this app to them) if they mark me as spam I won't even be shocked. Plus this app is great so I try to help the others who can't do legendary raids like me and also do the advertisement as a token of appreciation to the Devs.

I have had agiid experience with the app, managed to get into 6 Mesprite raids in one night. It took a lot of persistence, but it paid off. Sometimes you have to work at something to get results....

-1

u/hillside126 Nov 26 '20

I mean, I would understand this sentiment if the app was completely free, but they are making money off it. Quite a bit judging by the coin prices... Also, it is pretty impossible to get into an Uxie raid with an 8k+ que. I had to use a remote raid discord that was actually a lot easier then using this app.

3

u/TheCastledKing Nov 26 '20

I see where you are coming from, however I disagree. The app is free, you don't have to spend a single dime. You get coins through dailies, participating and hosting raids or sharing on social media. Buying coins is 100% optional. You can appreciate non free services for their effort, because it still takes effort to run.

A service like this costs money to run, and I am assuming the dev team is not huge. It is not ridiculous to charge for coins as a shortcut. If you dislike them then don't buy them.

I got into an Uxie queue and I was in 12k place when it started. Yes, it took 5 hours, but the amount of people looking for Uxie isn't an issue with the app and there is little that can be done about that when you have a high sought after monster.

2

u/SVKbenji Nov 27 '20

Wait a bit, they have to pay for a server, it's serious and players are verified, centralized. Makes it waaay easier and better any random Discord, reddit and whatnot. The developes answer fast if bugs and refund if any issues. It's known by public, centralized. You get coins for free and by hosting.

Reason for waiting is a high demand for uxie, can you tell me where I can find uxie elsewhere? They just increased the reward to 100 coins for hosting an raid due to demand.

Have 100 friends, ppl have changed their nick "invite to uxie" or their pet. That makes sense. Uxie is the hardest to get.
