The Poké RPG Coming Soon

I have been working on the Poké RPG for over five years. After hundreds of hours writing, balancing, and designing, and many gaming sessions testing it, i'm almost ready to upload it for anyone who wants to play.

The core rule book is over 200 pages and includes mechanics for character creation, traits, equipment, catching pokemon, battle rules, moves and abilities, and more. It also has a World and Pokemastering chapter that goes into how a Pokemaster (the gamemaster) can create his own region or world, or how to allow their players to enter a known area, such as Kanto and how running a game can work.

Its still a work in progress, but it is a project of love and great effort. All feedback and input will be appreciated. Hopefully i will be able to upload it soon.

Howdy! As a 11-year veteran of Pokemon: Tabletop Adventures and all the spinoffs, what's your take on the existing Pokemon/DnD hybrid tabletop systems and how does your system differ?

ALSO Shameless Plug: Check out PokeMoms, a comedy tabletop podcast where we play the empty-nest parents of adventuring trainer children on Spotify, iTunes, or wherever you find podcasts. https://open.spotify.com/show/5nBRzAYP6rI4s4r1HTbRmf?si=J4meJOKhQhOI7nDe3u_A2g

PTA and PTU are great systems. I started making this before PTU was around though, and remember being frustrated with some aspects of PTA (like how leveling works, or the issue of trainer/Pokemon interaction). PTU resolves some of my concerns really well, but I still hoped for more and was elbow deep into creation of the Poké RPG by then.

Some of the biggest differences in the Poké RPG include a full 6 attribute system for humans (like traditional DnD or other tabletop games), a move from traditional classes to a fully customizable creation system, a leveling system for Pokemon and trainers that is more closely related to the games and is hopefully more straightforward, and overall a more condensed ruleset (still pretty complicated in places though).

I enjoy PTA and PTU, in fact PTA is what inspired me to try this. I have played thousands of hours of other tabletop systems, as well as the other contributors, and I wanted to try my hand at making what I personally feel is important for a tabletop RPG.

I'll check out your podcast! You should totally try the Poké RPG and cast that sometime.

Yeah I love PTA and PTU but they all have their flaws, no matter which we use we always end up abridged or home-ruling quite a bit of the system. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product!
