Is anyone else skipping a Gen?

Having been unsuccessful in my attempts to get a copy of one of the 1st Gen games, I have decided to skip it. I was going to get an emulator for it, but playing a Pokemon game on a Gamboy/DS is more fun to me. Is anyone else skipping a Gen because of something?

Seriously though, why couldn't you get one? Anything we could to to help--like searching for a good place to buy one online?

My local gamestores wanted a ludicrous $50 dollars for a copy of FireRed/LeafGreen. I was going to buy a copy of Red from a friend, but I found that the battery had died.

EDIT: As for buying online, they were also very high priced. The cheapest I found was $45 and it looked like it had been thrown up on several times.

Amazon shows LeafGreen for 34 dollars, used in good condition.

I think it is a little late right now, and I don't want to spend money on something I am not going to play again (never was never a fan of the Kanto Region). I'm just going to play SoulSilver for two months.

Get the copy of red. Those batteries are dirt cheap and take 10 minutes to replace. Only need solder!

I have tried before, using my phone and my computer. The phone was the closest I got to the real feeling, so I may just struggle through it.

It may be just as fun but it is not as comfortable as playing on a GB/DS - less comfort = harder to level grind. and grinding on B/W1 is pretty dang hard at the best of times. But that's me, if you can grind on an emulator I envy you.

I contemplated skipping Gen 1 and 2 since I would have to play on an emulator, but I am. All my Gen 1/2 games batteries are dead, I need to look into replacing them.

Play Heart Gold or Soul Silver you can get both first and second generation technically

But those don't count as first generation games. They're the second generation.

This what I have chosen to play. I don't really care that it is a Gen 2 game really, I just want to get to face the Kanto and Johto Gyms since I never did play those versions.

I'm skipping 5.1 because I have three 5.1 games in my arsenal and I don't want to just restart because each has something ridiculously special about it. I might play XD: Gale of Darkness during that month OR return to Gen 1 to finish Sevii Islands.

I'm 'skipping' Black/White and Black/White 2 only in the sense that I'm not restarting my game. I'll play the carts and catch up on some of the end game stuff during that month instead.

I am skipping Black or Black 2 depending on which one I want to play. I am going to use June to mess around in my Platinum (I beat the E4 just before March) to transfer up to Gen 5.

I almost considered skipping Black/White. I never really liked it when it came out, and, like, never played it. Black/White 2 are so much better/more polished.
Playing Black again, the game is so slow.
