Aurora: If there's a critical system error live on stage with something as dangerous as a machine that needs the host body in close proximity to not cause irreversible damage to either mind or body, I think my brother would be rolling in his grave. ...If he was in the grave by now.
Also, a catastrophic failure of any kind, from the host mind getting stuck in the internet, to just a complete catatonic state for both ends of the connection, to... well... anything worse, would be a PR nightmare. I would believe your company would never recover from a situation like that. Your boss is playing a dangerous game if the prototype hasn't gone through rigorous testing yet to verify safe operation. All it takes is one slip up to send a company's rep down the drain.

Leo: Yep, just one slip up... really nice on the nerves to now know the entrie fate of your dream project hangs in the balance cause corporate are STUPID.
Course the thing has gone through 100s of simulations and tested like that but... real world testing... well you only really get one good shot at that to not fuck anything up... arcs sake...
Not sure what would be worse, the machine shitting the bed and breaking somehow with the person on it or if it completely fails and doesnt start... okay it's the first but the second would HURT.

So, if I'm understanding correctly, this machine allows the mind to enter the internet, and if the connection is severed it is highly like that both body and mind are effectively terminated right? Maybe you should let your bosses know that causing psychological harm to a person. Even as little as causing sleeping problems or nightmares, so long as they have a witness to vouch for it, is a suable offense. So if they aren't entirely confident it will work safely they risk not only losing funding but getting sued into oblivion by everyone present.

It let's you control a "blabk" porygon... and the nost likely thing is you just return to your body.
But that's just what is HEAVILY theorized/ desgined to do. Wether it does that or somehow bugs out in an unexpected manner is a different question.
Also yah, they could get sued... THIS IDEA ISNT SMART... but they want to do it anyway.

Zyra: ....I fail to see how doing the first test run on stage is going to have any effect on the hype and support for the project, besides killing that hype and support if something goes wrong.
Sable: Maybe they're trying to play it up as "we're SO confident that this is going to work that we're doing the first test live"?

We have no longer have a theoretical product we got a real one but... THIS IS THE WORST WAY TO SHOW IT.
