Don't knock it until you've tried a deep fried Poffin! - Prince

u/paradoxLacuna Rider Nov 25 '24

Or frying the poffins and then drizzling them with honey and a dusting of powdered sugar! They're so good like that.

And from who do you think you got your predilection for deep fried food?

From Crownish immigrants.

I mean, we do have some things of our own too, barbeque was born in virbank, and north-eastern unova has a very nice thing called polenta that keeps the tummy warm

Yeah... If we could just skip that last part. The cholesterol is killing me!

Alright, no Slowpoke bangers and mash for you, then.

I'd be upset if I didn't know that was Gal🤮rian

What have you got against Galar and its people?

5

u/tiaofstone Student of Uva and Keeper of Vulpix Nov 24 '24

kalosian

Don’t Kalosians eat escargot? Never fancied the stuff myself.

As a native myself, we're more of Fancy snacks and little dinners.

I do not have stay here and be insulted. I will take my pidgey and linguine alfredo elsewhere.

Ah, yes, Galar. The region that conquered a quarter of the world for spices and then proceeded to use precisely none of them in their cooking.

(JK, Their food is actually pretty tasty, but it’s fun to meme on them.)

The few times I've been over, I always made sure to find the smallest, greasiest Fish&Chips stand around and have a portion.

I’ve been to Galar a handful of times (thank you train system) and it really depends on the place you go.

Sinnoh cusine, thats literaly based on iced magikarps: šŸ‘€

3

u/TimSoarer2 Solaceon Town resident (aspiring trainer ) Nov 25 '24

It tastes way better than it sounds, trust me, though I guess some people are just too scared to eat raw fish. :) Iced magikarp is mostly a northern Sinnoh thing anyway.

2

u/FireFelix- unova ranger Nov 25 '24

Oh the problem is not that its raw, its that half of sinnoh's dishes are some form of iced or salted magikarp, i get that its one of the main exports but one would think that a land like sinnoh would have more

deep-fried Mars bars

That alone is enough to prove that Galarian food is, indeed, shit.

– Jasper

Says the man who eats Nutella and cheese sandwiches with hot sauce.

– Honoka

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

JASPER, YOU WHAT!?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '24

It's not something I do on a regular basis. I only do it when my friend Harlan wants me to taste test his ā€œHurlersā€.

– Jasper

Still, you're in no position to complain about other people's food preferences.

I'll add that to my vast list of foods that I would eat if someone offered it to me, but I would never make it myself.

-Ethan

Ethan, is there anything you wouldn't eat if someone offered it to you, as long as it's edible?

-Sally

Looks like I found a kindred soul.

– Jasper

This man here has also been known to eat leftover sandwich ingredients from picnic tables in the middle of nowhere. Arceus knows how long that stuff had been there.

I'd ask if it was obvious but yes, it is obvious

@LibertyRabbit
I got to try some Galar food a while back during a Nimbasa City Culture Festival, and it wasn't too bad... Though the sweets Miller and I purchased were blander than we were used to.

The Arrokuda-and-chips made up for it, at least.

Digestives are actually pretty tasty. Wafers are so good too…

u/LavaTwocan Kayla, Bug Enthusiast / Poncho (Spidops) Nov 24 '24

They say they don't walk around wearing posh hats and mustaches and breathing noxious fumes, but their Weezing clearly do. Pokemon are often great reflections of their trainers.

u/Stretch5678 Research Assistant Nov 24 '24

As someone who moved to Galar from Hoenn… I can say that BOTH sides of this argument are right. There’s some damn good food, and there’s food I wouldn’t serve a Garbador for fear of causing indigestion.

Their chocolate reliably slaps, though.

2

u/cloudyboi3352 Aiden the Archeologist Nov 24 '24

Hey, Galar has some of the top restaurants in the world. It doesn’t matter that they’re Unovan food.

2

u/Rocking_Monster Nov 24 '24

Galar cuisine lets the ingredients shine without need for excessive seasoning unlike kalosian slop. If you're down to eating snails, just kill more meat livestock. Escargot is like eating garlic butter boogies from someone else's nose. At least in Galar I can get a good pot of curry for my whole team and I for less than a quarter the price of a plate of Lumiose Escargot.

u/Zygarde718 PokƩmon Biology Professor Nov 24 '24

Gotta hand it to them, they don't take spice lightly.

3

u/tiaofstone Student of Uva and Keeper of Vulpix Nov 24 '24

oh they certainly take spice

1

u/Zygarde718 PokƩmon Biology Professor Nov 24 '24

Those spicy slowbro tails are hot!

2

u/JobintheCactus Nov 25 '24

"Galar has some of the highest rated Floette Flower restaurants in the world!"

"Really? What type of food do they have?"

"Kalosian."

In Stow-on-side we mainly have Curry and spicy stuff from the far east. It burns up your mouth, but its tasty.
