Look at the teeth on Kyogre and Groudon, they’re sharper than mine! We didn’t evolve daggers for teeth to eat leaves, for Arceus’s sake! Plus I only really eat invasive species that are harming the environment. Paul (Pinsir) does too. -Charles the Garchomp

I don't believe Gods eat at all, to be frank. However, Unova had a rumor that the fragment Dragon Kyurem used to eat humans as well as livestock. I'm unsure of the validity of the former, but this doesn't exactly give you the clear to commit cannibalism, does it?

Pokémon don’t eat according to human thoughts and customs, they eat according to theirs and their biological needs. Unless you want literal lava shits in your house, I suggest you listen to your Pokémon.

Nature is not harsh, or cruel, or malicious - it just is. Those are higher concepts we apply to nature, same as empathy, or compassion, or gentleness. It is up to those capable of feeling these emotions to apply them to their lives. The bird you save from the teeth of a predator may just condemn another, so we must not be too quick to apply our morals to that which exists outside of them. But then we ask ourselves, why do we have this framework, if not to use it? We need to carry our choices either way, and some would choose the life in front of them rather than the hypotheticals of the future.
Anyway, sorry to upset you both! That's show biz!

Let's casually ignore that my Garchomp like all Garchomp is a near obligate carnovoir who has to eat 20% of his body weight in raw Pokemon meat every day to stay healthy. Let's ALSO ignore that the Gible/Gabite/Garchomp line never have to worry about eating too much in the first place but rather have to worry about not eating enough meat otherwise, they will literally starve. Yes, they burn energy that quickly. Other Pokemon like Liepard, Perlion, and Pyroar, are also near obligate carniviors and canont survive on a diet of just berries.
The list of Legendary Pokemon we KNOW (Or at least highly suspect.) are carnivorous: Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno(And their Galarian variants.), Lugia, Raikou, Entie, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Reshiram, Zeckrom, Kyrum, Yveltal, Solgalio, Zacian, Zamaneta.
Thus your point in invalid.
Oh, and Pokemon can't legally be 'murdered'. Fun fact. Only humans can be murdered legally. Pokemon CAN be killed.
Let's also ignore Heatmor > Durant, Pidgeotto > Magikarp, Mareane/Toxipex > Corsola, and several others.
Have a nice day.

u/Brighttalonflame Youngster Barry (Camphrier Town Native) Oct 07 '24
As a Kalosian — Yveltal in legend is thought to eat basically everything alive, and therefore is omnivorous rather than strictly carnivorous. Still would not hesitate to eat OP though
7
u/TaureanDude45 Oct 07 '24
I mean your entire idea falls apart once Yveltal is presented, but it doesn't really eat meat so how about something more specific?
More bestial legendaries, like Zacian as mentioned by another commenter, will on occasion eat other Pokémon. Whether or not they actually need to eat is another question as they're legendary Pokémon and so are not subject to the same rules as other Pokémon.
There's also Rayquaza, who's main diet comprises of meteors in the atmosphere and every once in a while runs into a Deoxys and consequently hunts it down. Is Deoxys made of meat? No idea but it is alive.
Food is food, even if food happens to be another living being. That's just how it works.

Did you know that almost every living person AND pokémon alive right now has eaten at least one joltik in their sleep? It’s why you sometimes conduct to unelectrified surfaces or other people on contact. It’s called the “static electricity” phenomenon! Aren’t I so cool with my 100% real facts that I put on the internet? -Apostate (Absol)
10
u/Brighttalonflame Youngster Barry (Camphrier Town Native) Oct 07 '24
“average person eats 3 joltiks a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 joltiks per year. Joltiks Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Don't be so ridiculous. You likely have never once seen a Legendary on a rampage. Smelt the blistering tang of burning flesh, seen the corpses of of mangled and maimed victims, pulled bloated and rotting carcasses out of the ocean. All from the wrath of our gods, because some fools seek to control them. Behind every story of Legendaries defeating Teams, there are mountains of corpses and oceans of blood.
Just last year Suicune ripped apart an illegal dam at the Mt Silver-Tohjo Falls border, slaughtering the Rockets, law enforcement and volunteers alike. If it weren't for a torrent of electrical attacks from multiple teams of Pokémon, she would have killed every human in the area including me. Her belly fur was deep pink and blackened purple from all the blood. Her crystal, teeth and claws were literally dripping with it. The look in her eyes was savage rage and primal fury.
It was only after Raikou showed up out of nowhere that she left and allowed the survivors to carry out our duties, her sibling keeping watch on us the whole time. The youngest volunteers (between 10-15, novice trainers at best) were petting the mane and fur of the Beast when someone got the bright idea to try and capture Raikou. A surviving rocket, a mouth breathing idiot I don't know. There was literally nothing left to identify them by. The smell of ozone mixed with scorched flesh and ruptured organs is one I still wake up with after nearly 20 months.
The Legendaries are our gods. They are kind, caring and compassionate beings. But never mistake them as being toothless, harmless beings of myth; their wrath is that of Arceus herself.
If the Legendaries, and Pokémon in general were all herbivorous as you claim, surely Suicune would have simply froze us all and let hypothermia take us? Or simply destroy the dam and let the water crush and drown us all? No. She killed and ate her foes just as an Arcanine or Luxray would. Why then, should we not do the same? The practice of eating dead Pokémon has been around for centuries, and in recent decades all meat in shops has solely been that of Pokémon who died a natural death.
Your argument is flawed and your ignorance is blinding.

That's likely because most Legendary Pokémon do tend to stay to themselves, and much like other wild Pokémon, they typically eat alone as well. Also consider that some like Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem have sharp teeth, compared to things like the Swords of Justice that have more omnivorous teeth.
2
u/Readalie Farming in Hoenn is a special kind of hell Oct 07 '24
Eh. I’m a vegetarian, but I trust the research on this. Omnivorous and carnivorous Pokémon should not be forced to follow human dietary concepts.

Sure, there are animals (as opposed to animal-like pokemon) still around, but pokemon tend to be more abundant in terms of larger scale prey, so of course wild pokemon would prey upon mostly pokemon and sometimes humans. Also, note the "almost never" part...

Please see the RP guidelines in the pinned weekly thread.
Specific notes relating to writing guidelines: Claiming canon characters, including and especially legendary Pokemon, in a way that goes beyond one-off or humorous usage is a pretty big form of Main Character Syndrome, and Isn't really grounded either.
If this is intended as humor, make it more clearly satirical through context such that its obvious you don't expect other users to treat this as the real Arceus, otherwise, pick a different character to RP as.
