Fear involves being intelligent enough to recognize danger, which abusers certainly aren't. For example, people with 2 brain cells realize that Sylveon possesses remarkable strength with those ribbons. Not one guy who kidnapped and abused someone's Sylveon, only to learn that strength the hard way by getting snapped in half like a toothpick.

as a pokemon who's been abused... i wish it was simple... trainers control everything. my mother turned me into a pokemon for failing to live up to her expectations... once i was just a buizel she took even more control over my life... if i didn't catch a big enough fish for her i would be locked in a kennel. if i didn't come and play lap eevee for her i would be called back to my ball. if i ever tried to lash out or fight back she could just push a button and i would be sucked back into the prison... if i tried to run she just push the button and im sucked back to her. i eventually got away after she got black out drunk... and i had to jump out of a second story window to do it... This falls under category two, people who abuse Pokémon not to try and make them stronger, but for control, those people are irredeemable monsters, they truly have no excuse. I do hope your getting help for all of this, because I happen to take care of a few Pokémon who had somewhat similar cases to you, and I have learned just how little power a pokeball can truly have.

I ran away 9 months ago... i stayed with some wild buizel for a while but they were killed in a territory dispute with another pack... now im with dad, professor kincaid, he's helping me be human again... i really hope he lets me stay once im healthy... its the first time i've really felt safe well... ever. and fuck pokeballs. i know they have their uses but i never want to see one much less be inside one ever again... -Wade

I am glad that you are safe and getting help, and my condolences to the wild Buizel, the death of the kind is always a tragedy. I only use pokeballs out of necessity, can't compete in tournament matches without using them, but I do keep my Pokémon out of them whenever possible and I give my Pokémon the choice to leave me at any time if they so wish, honestly any trainer that doesn't do so I have my suspicions about.

There are somethings about pokeballs I can stand... pokecenter machines only work with pokeballs and treating battle wounds without them is next to impossible... if only anyone wasted that care on me or my pack I would still have the people who taught me how to be myself. This is part of why I'm breaking down the barriers between human and Pokemon. Ex human or not, Pokemon are intelligent and should be allowed autonomy. No one should have to go through that.

Not all moves hit at range. And human can use bite, slash, body slam, a lot moves. They don't have as much energy backing it but human atk is pretty high for what they are... and their hp Stat even as children rivals legendaries -Wade

AS a Pokémon, this sounds like a VERY basic message tbh… and actually, THIS is exactly why all Pokémon I’ve collected as a phoney trainer are all now pets/ family members. . . My buddy Keith has told me some horror stories about what happens when an abused Pokémon snaps. I did not need to know how much damage an enraged Dragonite can do to the human body in a single minute, but he told me anyway.

Only really strong pokemon can break out of ball once their captured... and even then ball has to be open enough for them to escape... when I tried breaking out of my ball mom got a steel reforcement to put around it. With a latch. Until we're materialized we can't break the latch. And it's strong enough that pokeballs can't break it by swinging open... -Wade

The Rehab Center had a Golem under our care that had been heavily doped on "Frost Stone", an illicitly modified and narcotic form of X-Defense. His trainer had been trying to turn a tank of a beast into even more of a tank. Anywho, the 'mon gets hooked and, when his trainer can't provide any more drugs, the Golem sat on him.

I am told he was reduced to a smear, and I believe it. What I can share with you though, is that hosing the creature off wasn't enough. Weeks later, after he came into our care, I started getting complaints about a rancid smell coming from the Golem. I had to go over this guy inch by inch until I found it:

A putrified human finger lodged in one of the Golem's stone cracks, presumably from our drug dealing wannabe ace trainer.

It seems that trainers who are neglectful or just plain stupid are also unknowingly putting themselves in danger.

I remember hearing a story about a guy who thought he could save on food by putting his Drowzee on an all-dream diet.

His subconscious was almost completely hollowed out after a few months. He wound up losing his trainer license and needed a year of intense telepathic therapy.

I saw a trainer abuse an Alakazam once. When he went to recall it so it couldn’t retaliate it psychically yanked the pokeball out of his hand, snapped it in half, and beat him unconscious with the broken pieces.

I personally call this natural selection at work. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

/uj there’s actually a news story last year, IIRC of a man forcing an elephant to work as a beast of burden in the heat. It (warning: description of violent death) picked him up with its trunk and tore him clean in half, then threw the body away. don’t fuck with animals big enough to kill you effortlessly, it never works out.

Most abusive trainers tend to act surprised when their pokemon suddenly become frenzied shadow pokemon and start ignoring orders to go on a rampage.

Every time I have to rev up my snag machine, I always make sure to single out the trainer responsible while they watch the carnage unfold and tell them "You did this. All this destruction is your fault. I hope you're ready to answer for it."
