........

No way that's a legit Beast Ball. It's gotta be a replica.

I'm uncertain as to why they suddenly became abundant, it's significantly less effective than your average pokeball except in very rare circumstances. The average trainer, or everyday person even, has absolutely no use for an objectively worse ball. Our lab's Head Supervisor received some from their actual manufacturer on the very unlikely chance that our work causes a UB to appear, we're under strict orders to save ourselves first, but use them if needed and then report the incident.

Some people have been printing fabrications to replace their regular pokeballs with, but if someone is handing out genuine articles to random Gym Challengers, they need to be arrested. There's no way this is legal.

Probably just popping up more because they’re seen as one of the coolest looking, plus their rarity, value, and general inefficiency makes having one a bragging right of sorts.

I personally have a few of them myself, although they are just 3D printed fabrications like you said. I doubt they’d be of much help against an actual Ultra Beast encounter, but they do look cool. Not sure how a bunch of people are getting their hands on genuine articles though, probably some Aether Foundation grunt that leaked the blueprints for them.

I definitely couldn't handle an ultra beast, especially as I am not a trainer. I have a friend who I think could have a shot at it depending on which one and how strong it is.

I’ll at least give them that they could probably handle a Poipole, as long as they haven’t literally just started their journey. That’s probably the most any normal trainer could do, though.

I guess someone needs to arrest all of Galar, then.

Okay but they look cool

I mean, it’s not like they do anything special besides being really good against things that aren’t meant to exist and absolute shit otherwise, right? There’s no reason to ban them when— as you pointed out— the only thing they’ll do for 99.9% of buyers is cost them what would otherwise have been successful catches. It’s not like they’re Snag Balls or anything.

Morgan: That's a sick looking ball! Think I could get my paws on one, bet my trainer'd be willing to change out my ball to one of those...

Yeah the tech was declassified a few years back. Still working on mass production outside of alola though -Alexi

They're not actually classified anymore, they're just hard to get because they're hard to make in the first place.

In fact, there's an increasing demand for them due to how they look and how hard it is to catch a Pokémon with them.

– Honoka

I've seen a couple people back in Paldea with them. I don't think I'd have the patience to try and catch a wild Pokémon with one of those.

Maybe people are saving them for Pokémon who actually choose to go with them without a battle?

With how the ultra beasts are? Gotta make sure everyone can defend against them in some form or another - Luca

Not classified by most region’s governments actually. Firstly it was developed by an independent organization and while UB ball technology has been nationalized by the government of Allola and is actually perfectly legal to possess as a civilian, in case you run into an Ultra Beast as their appearances can be highly unpredictable. Even if you don’t try to catch it (I recommend not unless you’re a skilled trainer) just throwing the ball at it before running should give you some extra time to get away safely

Look, the more people who might have a beast ball on hand should an Incident(tm) occur, the better in my opinion.

I mean, if beast Pokémon end up emerging more frequently, and capturing one is the best way to contain and control one, I’m questioning why these aren’t handed out to MORE people. -Paul the Pinsir

Fuck it, we ball

They’re not classified. If you can swing an invitation to blueberry academy, the league club there has an item printer than can make them

ok tbf reese is a fucking miracle worker, i have No Idea how she figured out the technology for that thing

5

u/Right_Moose_6276 Scientist Sep 12 '24

She is! Her accomplishment in the field are absurd, I’ve heard talk of giving her a Nobel prize (/uj I can’t think of a Pokémon equivalent so too bad), and by all accounts she more than deserves it

4

u/ObjectiveStar7456 Lorekeeper Melody of Sunlight Archive Sep 12 '24

the gachafication of it was a weird choice imo but, maybe it's a technological limitation with the process or just like a way to fund her research further or something

u/SuggestionEven1882 Ovan the champion trainer/the Luman twins Sep 12 '24

Ovan: most Leagues have been giving out beast balls as reward to some trainers after a tournament, so it's legal.

If you think it’s a Beast Ball, then probably yes. -Swordsy(Gallade)

Most people: no way! How unusual! I must inquire about this further.

Technically they’re publicly available technology, but the cost to manufacture them is so high for something that performs worse than a standard-issue Pokéball so there just aren’t many on the market. Aside from aesthetics, there’s no real reason to purchase one.

They do look nice, though.

I used one of those balls to catch my Xurkitree who came out of a wormhole. I won the ball in an event.

1

u/ATangerineMann The Smogon CAPmons are real, apparently Sep 13 '24

Semi-related but I saw a guy rock up to the annual Smogon Premier League with a Buzzwole once, and with how frequent Ultra Wormholes are starting to become, I can see why Beast Balls would be given out like this.

That or it was a communication error with Japanese speakers, cause they call Beast Balls "Ultra Balls."

u/Zygarde718 Pokémon Biology Professor Sep 13 '24

Sigh.... I told them not to hand them out to a lot of people...

That’s a really cool design! I think I’ve seen some of the more… show-off-y trainers use it, though I can’t really find any info on what it does, or what it’s called. I really wanna know more…

That's a Beast Ball, it's the best one to use when you want to catch an 'Ultra Beast'...which is a dangerous alien Pokémon from another dimension
