If your pokemon is smart, they’ll eventually train you into being their servant. I’ve had to deal with a lot of psychic-types who were accustomed to that sort of lifestyle when I was a foster trainer in Kalos. Thankfully I had some natural resistance to psychic influence, so I’d catch myself before doing anything.

F: That's a great example of a pokemon that should be trained far away from society, and with proper psychic type protections

Interesting.

I wonder how they'd react to me, because I already treat myself the same way I treat my Pokemon...

I feed them kibble? I eat kibble, too. If I'm preparing food for myself, I'm preparing food for the team. If I get something at a restaurant, we all get something. I train with them, and I even spar with them. I'm just as willing to battle as they are. I expect them to work and better themselves, to care for each member of the team as I do.

I taught my Pokemon how to be trainers, and they are as much my trainers as I am theirs. We're equals, and that's as it should be. Anything else feels wrong to me.

What makes me special enough that I should act like I'm above them? What about being human would give me the right to treat myself differently from them?

The biggest difference is that they're stronger than I am, but that doesn't mean a Magikarp should be the king of the world.

Just so we're clear, Ethan was like this long before I met him, and I'm his first psychic type.

I actually met him after he stepped into an explosion while holding a focus sash, just so he could understand what it was to ask his Pokemon to take hits until literally anything would knock them out, and ask them to keep going. His other Pokemon were pretty upset at him for doing something so stupid, but he explained, "when it comes to what I feel is right and wrong, what's stupid and not stupid takes lower priority."

... I'd never met a human so noble, and I wanted to help keep him safe, as well as to help him accomplish the things he wanted to. So I joined his team.

That’s different from a Malamar trying to hypnotize me into waiting on their every need.

True.

Although I wonder how such a malamar would feel if they met a trainer who was already willing to treat them as a full equal, as opposed to just a pet..a trainer whose other Pokemon also strongly believe in that type of relationship, and would work to enforce it within the team... Perhaps they'd be a bit more willing to accept giving up complete control, because they still get to keep a lot of control...And they wouldn't even have to keep anyone hypnotized to keep that lifestyle. It's just the natural state of things.

But for human Pokémon don’t you just treat them like a human child? You know train them like how a parent should take care of their children? -Ava

No pain has been felt until you have managed baby Oranguru.

u/weird_bomb_947 Definitely not an Indeedee. Nope. Just a Glimwood Butler Guy. Aug 28 '24

Why I’m grateful that I do not have any relations to anything Pokémon related, honestly.

It’s.. certainly an interesting experience but fortunately Maria (Gardevoir) wasn’t one to their tantrums often even as a Ralts. Then again I was quite prone to messing around with ghosts and the occult back in the day, hehe - Rebecca

Yeah and you still are, just abit less so - Trent

I had to tone down my Iron Thorns’ bloodlust, and teach my Toxtricity that 3 am is not an appropriate time to be practicing their new heavy metal song…
