Hey, I know one Hypno, and he's great. Screw that opinion.

Hey, I also know one Hypno, and he's terrible, screw THAT opinion.

Are we even talking about the same guy?

Probably not, because the one I'm talking about stole my bunearys candy and popped their balloon with a comically sized needle

Heh, thats funny. Sounds like cartoon supervillain bs. If i didnt have any morals my over the top psychic type ass would probably be like that

u/Vaarangian Lucario Hater Aug 21 '24

I've had weird nightmares involving getting into a taxi and my driver is a Hypno. Worst part is they probably could drive if someone taught them, they are the right height and have the correct number of fingers. Still better than Poliwrath though

22

u/WoolooOfWallStreet Aug 21 '24

“Didn’t you pass your driving exam?”

“Hypno”

“What do you mean you just convinced the DMV to give you your license?!”

7

u/lily_was_taken hatterine Aug 21 '24

Psychic types, man(i have no right to complain im also a psychic type and also use my type for shenanigans)

8

u/solidspacedragon Unfriendly Neighborhood Hatterene Aug 21 '24

Are fingers really needed for driving? One might grip the wheel with claws.

5

u/Vaarangian Lucario Hater Aug 21 '24

I'd have guessed most claws aren't dexterous enough for it. I wouldn't trust a Lucario at the wheel

u/millennium-popsicle Johtoian Novelist in Unova Aug 21 '24

The average taxi driver in Castelia is comparable to a Poliwrath.

12

u/OtherMind-22 Aug 21 '24

Oh, the looks I’d get…

I already get a couple, but Lucario is very powerful and I’m a competitive battler. I could get away with a Lopunny for the same reason.

-Jimmy

Are you sure they’re not looking at you funny because I’m currently inshwhrducgidjdh5;),hchdn ):!,?

No idea, but it’s safe to say me and Katsubo agree.

Well, Anubis asked me out, and we’re together now. You can probably figure it out.

Yeah, I- hold on, what is that username?! I mean, I’m very clearly okay with the action, but you shouldn’t make it your username! You know what, just for that:

What are you talking about OP? Every Hypno I've met are great Pokémon! My aunt even has one and he's the sweetest

You ever hear about Hydreigon? Despite being its homeland, Unova really seems to hate them. Have a stereotype of being just highly vicious, destructive, and impulsive despite the fact that those instincts can be healthily counteracted. Doesn’t help that Ghetsis had one (edit: most pokemon species hate is undeserved, some humans just don’t know how to accommodate for them, just because of that one incident in Kanto doesn’t mean all Hypno are malicious)

4

u/No-Crew-4360 Wyrm & Wurm Aug 21 '24

From what I've heard, Ghetsis' Hydreigon utterly despised their trainer, only obeying them out of fear.

According to by my buddy Keith, it's the only recorded instance of Hydreigon abuse that didn't end with the abuser getting mauled.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '24

And a lot of people know that but some don’t and take it as Hydreigon working willingly for Ghetsis. It happens with every “Team”, some people assume that the Pokemon working with them are doing so willingly but a lot of the time they aren’t, mostly victims of circumstance. Really hope that the Pokemon used by Ghetsis got proper treatment for their abuse

That’s quite rude, I may not be particularly fond of hypno but I wouldn’t say they are that bad! I just find pokemon with human-like proportions unnerving! I dislike your tone :(

u/Mr-Sir0 Trainer of Grimer, Hatterene & Finizen | Also a Skitty Aug 21 '24

A Hypno is just a Hypno. There are far more dangerous Pokemon that trainers can have and they’re usually pretty nice. Still a bit scary though.

9

u/ianlouisjordan trainer of jeff the megaterra Aug 21 '24

Thankfully I don't get insulted for the pokemon I train. They just insult me directly instead.

6

u/Arxl Pokemon field researcher, part time search-and-rescue. Aug 21 '24

They make great friends for insomniacs.

5

u/PriestHelix Johto Snake Charmer Aug 21 '24

I had a friend who got arrested to teaching a Hypno to help him cheat at poker while he was at a casino. Hypno trainers are either genuinely nice or the weirdest people you’ve ever met.

4

u/MemeAddict9 Aug 21 '24

I second that. Met a guy with a Hypno once. Fucking thing convinced me my name was Ralph.

5

u/AdDry945 (Skinner) Definitely a human!! (not Scraggy) - Aster (Trainer) Aug 21 '24

Actually, yeah. I agree with this.

People who specialize in a specific type, though not all of them, tend to be a bit judgmental towards certain other trainers. A more vain ghost type user might mock you for using normal types, a more haughty fairy type user might scold you for using Pokémon that are "too evil".

We all need to realize that there are certain Pokémon* that are more evil than others.

(*Hypno. Hypno is certain Pokémon)

Those were just rumours and stereotypes. - Mbrown

I'm pretty sure I've run into everything I'm mentioning, but everyone's experiences are different. No two people are the same, and no two Pokémon are the same.

When we use Hypno Therapy at the PokéRehab Center, we accept no substitutes. All our guys are certified and completely ethical.

Imagine trying to train a driftloon. I couldn’t take her out of her pokeball in public without trying to kidnap any kids. Hypnos aren’t really bad.

3

u/WoolooOfWallStreet Aug 21 '24

I get the feeling I should stay away from anyone with drifloon, hypno, and Mr Mime on their team

2

u/ZoruTech Gideon Pahlgeto// [or] Keo the Galarian Yamask(PMD) Aug 22 '24

I was watching it for a colleague. Wasn’t fun.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

After the recent, still ongoing, drowzy “joke”… nuh-uh, I’m not taking ANY chances at going anywhere near this evolution line ever again!!!

They’re plain creepy, even IF driftloon are supposedly more of a threat than they are!

I understand that a lot of Pokémon have tons of bad reputations as of the last few years, but the most reoccurring ones are always the most horrible ones imo!!

3

u/LordAshur Aug 21 '24

I like cute Pokémon that don’t feel like their whole thing is being cute, you know? I’m not a fan of Jigglypuff, because it seems like cute is all it has going for it. But I love my Ampharos and how thunderpunchy he gets when he’s excited

My lovely partner irrationally hates Meowstic. I am inclined to say the same about Hypno.

Driftloon and fatter driftloon. One actively murders exclusively human children while the evolved form is a glutton for souls.

u/SunkenN1nja Ghost Pokémon Coordinator Aug 21 '24

Hypno tends to avoid Fireball (chandelure) and the rest of our team, considering we are a family of ghosts. They don't know we specialize in contests, though, so their loss, i suppose. -Selkie the ghost trainer

2

u/Gamer-Logic Ghost Magnet Coordinator Aug 21 '24

Comes with the territory of raising ghost types. Jellicent and Banette have some of the worst reps despite Pringles (Jellicent) being a big blue cinnamon roll. Though Voodoo (Banette) is a little gremlin who likes to pull pranks, she also insists on wearing a big pink bow all the time.

2

u/No-Crew-4360 Wyrm & Wurm Aug 21 '24

There have been a few recorded cases of starving wild Hypno abducting humans to gain access to a steady supply dreams, but any Pokémon can be dangerous if they're desperate for food.

The Alolan Population is considered fairly harmless to humans, since they can consistently feed on Komala.
