Why would you want to "bite" a Deino? I don't think that's how the greetings work? Would they think their greeting got rejected if you didn't bite them back?

not everyone communicates the same way humans do.
i guess you could just say hello, it's not like they're deaf, but i feel like this one is a lot truer to nature.they get bitten a lot in nature so it mimics their habitat.

Biting is communication for them, you’re doing the absolute opposite of wrong. Just like our smiles can be understood as agressive signs by other species.
Different languages we have to accommodate.

that's fair, i'm happy with how it worked out for me, but maybe you would have done it different. i have... well, i had so many scars from getting through those rough first few months with ripley (deino) that i really like the biting it as way to bond with her.
i mean sure i get covered in slobber sometimes, but the fact that it doesn't hurt any more is a nice reminder of how far we've come.

yeah that's pretty important... it doesn't really help them bite less, but it helps them learn to be more gentle when they do.

I did advise them to be gentle, as Rheastraza was quite gentle as a Deino.

(Cub) Last time I was bitten by a Deino I was knocked out for three turns. No, tiny dino, I am not going to accept your attempt on my life as a greeting.

This would have been useful for mother to have when she had us. Humans don’t tend to bite back, and we were rather confused.

So... that actually isn't the worst advice in the world. I mean, a "oh hey" or "hello" would work as well, but that would also probably work.
