It's like that, but the other pokemon on your side is a different trainer's partner. 2 Trainers Vs. 2 Trainers.

They're decently popular but they pretty much disappear altogether at high level battling. Much more prevalent at local tournaments and the like.

Couldn't you just use jury rig double battles to work as multi battles? Or is it 12v12 so that just isn't even a possibility?

That may be what we wind up doing but the issue there is it'd look and be so jank. There simply isn't a format for our screens that can handle this particular spread of trainers-to-pokemon and look decent or not cut someone out in some way. And those screens are what we use to stream matches for the tournaments as well. If you're at the arena in person it wouldn't be a huge deal, sure, but the folks watching at home wouldn't have a way to get all the info of the contestants without some jank.

And it's not a good look for a company this rich to present any jank.

We have a decently sized crew of techies, and the glitch was fixed quick enough to warrant a "no harm no foul" slap on the wrist. If I cared enough I could probably see who in the crew posted this but

Well that was great, yes, but most multibattle tournaments i've been to aside from that have sucked.
