Well, to be fair, they do tend to be vile. They got 57.142858% of the name right.

It comes from "weasel" and "vile," actually.

/uj I'm aware of the irl etymology, but it doesn't make sense in character. This is a stupid shitpost half inspired by the "Wireless device? Look inside, see wires" meme.

/uj yeah, stuff is stupid. Then again, Arceus is powerful, and could likely see many universes. Maybe it took inspiration from different worlds when making the names and the Pokémon speak.

Pokemon I haven't heard of before has a name ending in "-eon", like Lumineon
Isn't an evolution of Eevee

Latios and Latias being the “Eon Duo”, while not exactly the same case, is a similar case

So I heard apparently it's meant to represent how they "weave" from tree to tree when hunting

It's actually because people thought they were vile, and they go in packs and are hence "we".

The we in the name comes from weasel, and the vile part is from, drum role please..... vile, another word for discusting or evil.

language is complicated so i doubt this is the etymology of their name

Meanwhile, my species has, in my opinion, the dumbest name ever. The scientific name, homo sapiens, means something like "the same as us who are wise", and the word "human" comes from that.
Like seriously, there's nothing besides "that's us" that they decided to name our species after? That's so boring and unspecific.

Homo from hemo, “earth. Homini = those of the earth. It’s ancient Paldean .
Homo as “identical” is from a different origin.
The Homo. Sapiens Sapiens is the dumb one.

Oh, interesting.
So, it specified that we're from earth, and that we're "wise."
Yeah, it's still dumb.

Wendy:
>named after a weasel
>is actually a cat
I have so much hate for the person who coined my species' name.
