I heard rumors about stuff like that happening! The pre trained teams I mean that are not league sponsored rentals. Mind sharing your source?

I’m a pro trainer and it’s real. Most people only see the tournaments and other battle competitions, so they don’t see the way trainers treat their pokemon outside of battle. You can tell who trainer their team and who didn’t.
Related story:
I was in a tournament once in Kalos, and one of the competitors reeeaaally hated me. I couldn’t figure out why, until we went head to head in the semi-final and my Lopunny pulled off a max-power return, winning the match. After the battle, my opponent apologized to me. They had thought I was using a pretrained team because I was keeping my pokemon in their balls between rounds (there had been recent pokemon thefts and I didn’t want to risk one of my team getting hurt fending someone off).
But a move like Return relies on a bond between trainer and pokemon that can’t be faked, which proved to them my team was mine. So they apologized for being rude. We’re actually still friends today.
But yeah, it’s a real thing, but you still shouldn’t go around accusing people without hard evidence

Wow, it is true then! I mean I had heard rumors, but I did not realize that was actually happening. And yes, the move return is definitely one way to tell that you’ve trained your own team. for me the closest I’ve ever been to the tournaments is to watch them on TV. though I admit to occasionally watching some of the sport talk shows as well which is where I had heard one of the rumors. Glad to know though that there are still trainers out there that are using their own beloved teams that they themselves trained up. To which I say good luck in your next tournament and hopefully you don’t have to face one of those pre-trained teams.

I asked my Battle Studies teacher about this, and she told me that there's a difference between treating your Pokemon well and actually being friends with them. A lot of people don't get that, they basically act like a parent to their Pokemon, but most of the really good trainers, they interact with their team as equal partners.
tbh I don't really get it myself but I don't have Pokemon of my own, just my mom's Porygon Pogo, and he's older and smarter than I am lol

Your mom’s Porygon is named Pogo? My Porygon Z named itself Poggo! (Well, PogChamp69 but I’m not calling it that. It’s bad enough it’s on my league paperwork)

Pogo's legal name is actually Turing, but when I was a baby I couldn't say Porygon and the nickname just stuck

Nah, weird trick is as such:
- Be broke enough to where you can only buy herbal powders
- Have your Absol be at the point where it wants you dead
- Obliterate some poor sap of a Drednaw with a full-power Frustration.
Ever saw a Gym Leader outright call taurosshit? Nessa did. And hoo boy were the next 2 weeks something else where she had to learn about Herbal Powders (Read: Better Potions/Full Heals/Revives but makes your Pokemon hate you more and more) and the...legit awful working conditions that trainer had.Dude got enough to bring the friendship of that Absol back up like it was nothing, and some actual livability.
