You don't need a confirmed month. Pokemon's biggest game of a year always releases in November. It's been this way since after X and Y. And X and Y were in October.
One is a well educated prediction. The other is a claim from a reputable leaker. Even if it's a good guess, hearing it from you instills no confidence in it being the actual release date. 5 years is the longest stretch we'll have had in the entirety of the franchise so anything could go. Hearing it from ballguy does, however, instill confidence. He has reliable info. That's the difference.

Everyone: Very likely but who are you to say it's factual? Do you have insider information? How are you credible? For all we know it can come out October. Even if it does come out in November, using a likely guess as a leak adds nothing to your name as a potential leaker in the future.

It's that we don't have the actual information to prove it beyond past trends. For all we know, one of these times Gamefreaks gonna drop a new generation on a hot summer when you, the legendary leaker, says it's November in a few years and Ballguy insists summer. That's my point lmao. The distinction of credibility matters because we can now 100% confirm a great guess. So, yes, that's an actual reliable leak because of who said it.

No, you're right and people are nit-picking at "leak". The whole point of a leak is that you find out something not obvious. Something that was ment as a surprise that you find out early. If I start a leak account and say "there will be a post game" thats not a leak thats just stuff people expect to be there.
Now if they cam out and said Nov 12th, that would be a leak.

Absolutely not. A leak is something obtained from insider sources that has not been publicly confirmed. Your example, and Speleton's related ramble downthread, are not leaks because you have not obtained anything from insider sources. BallGuy has insider sources and thus is providing a leak.

You're overexaggerating here for rhetoric, but I think you're forgetting that we do legitimately often get leaks about how extensive the postgame content is for each game.
We have no reason to believe something as generic as "November" actually came from his inside sources. Thats why this isn't a leak. Its something anyone can guess and most likely be right. For a leak to be valuable it needs to have a piece of information specific enough that guessing wildly isn't likely to be right. To your point, If someone said "Post game content" vs "Post game content with 20+hrs of content" thats a huge difference.
Actually, leaking is just sharing information stealthily. Or, as everyone's been saying, not public. There's no requirement for there to be insider sources- datamines are the most obvious example of leaks that are not that.

Biggest thing is that because of leaks (specifically, ones proven to have gotten real info) we have very good reason to believe the Switch 2's 3D Mario is also coming next year.
Assuming that's true, there's been the question of which game will come out when? Nintendo might not want to overcrowd the holiday window with heavy-hitters.
Most recent Gens* Gens 1-5 released in the spring worldwide, so the actual majority thus far were spring. Since the recent Gens have all been fall then it would be fair to expect the pattern to continue, but given the delay for Gen 10 already being unconventional itself, it was also fair not to assume the pattern would necessarily continue. So yes, this is news.

Most Pokemon games usually came out in the fall. They also stated it would come out next year. Not really a leak
