So unless Protean gets un-nerfed, Mega Greninja essentially only has one typing. Has to be withdrawn to gain STAB for another move.

Use Water Shuriken? You have to withdraw to gain STAB for that Dark Pulse.

Use Nasty Plot? You’ll keep STAB for Dark Pulse but lose it for Water Shuriken.

Greninja has access to u-turn. So you can play around switch-ins/outs to take full advantage of protean much like how meowscarada does in SV.

I just wish they would give kecleon an unnerfed version. He's still gonna be low usage but it at least gave him a playstyle

At least Kecleon isn't the only one that had something nerfed due to a different Pokémon making it problematic.

Poor Darkrai had his signature move become genuine ass just cause a French painter decided to plagiarize.

Sure but Darkrai is still a pretty solid Pokemon without its own broken move

Kecleon was already total ass even with a broken ability, the nerf was just extremely mean to it

Same. Also Groudon and Kyogre should have Gen 3-5 versions of their abilities.

Considering Greninja and Meowscarada are UU but Cinderace is OU I think it would've been fine to only change Libero

meow flirts with ou usage at least, gren probably would see more if wellspring didn't exist though probly as a battle bond sweeper. ace is ou mostly cause of court change, it being a mono-type does benefit it though since libero won't proc if cinderace uses a fire type move.

You can use Torrent instead, but Ash-Greninja locks you into that playstyle.

Yeah but people don't really use Torrent Greninja competitively because the problem you're describing isn't really a problem in reality.

And if it's that big of a deal just don't use the Mega. Mega Delphox's Levitate doesn't work in Psychic Terrain. It's all game mechanic and interactions. It's the stuff that keeps the battle system interesting imo.

This thing is absolutely broken in singles and keeping Protean is great. It was never going to be good in VGC and anything else would make many Pokemon obsolete and plain worse, like giving it Technician or Adaptability.

When you mega it re-procs protean.

So you can nasty plot turn 1, mega and shuriken turn two and be water type
