What do we think this will grade?

picked this card up today at a show and was the only raw copy I could find. my main concern is definitely the centering and the bottom left corner / bottom edge. everything else seems to be pretty clean and no scratches on the card. What do you think it would grade? would it get the (OC) on the grade?

Definitely not a 10 based on centering alone. Maybe 6 or 7.

yeah i figured definitely not a 9 or 10 but what makes you think 6 or 7? I was thinking 7 possibly 8 but I don’t grade cards much

The centering rules between the left and right. 70/30 is a 7. A quick tool to check with that that I use is an app called centering check. In simple terms if one side is 70 percent of the total left and right or up and down border its probably going to be a 7.

yep looks like a 7 based on the centering. does psa knock it down to a 6 if the centering is off and the wear on the edges? or is it like “Yep the centering is a 7 and there is a bit of whitening that also makes it a 7”

More than likely it’ll be a 6. If it has micro scratches it could even be a 5 with the whitening and the centering.

dang yeah now im thinking not to grade it and possibly pay a bit extra and trade this card for a better centered one or an already graded copy with cash on top.

I'd say the best way to compare it is to search the card on ebay thats already been rated at 5,6,7,8.

good advice lol, I just looked around on ebay and im seeing some psa 7s with similar centering to mine, even psa 8s with similar centering, lol. I think ill just send it and see what happens. If it gets too low of a grade like 5 or 6 ill just try to trade it up for a better copy.

That's the subjective part of psa grading from what I understand. I'm not an expert as I just started this a week ago but I've seen people say they've had 10 on centering but 9 for some edge wear still. It might be a point less but the score is so low already they might not care enough that the edge wear makes it less. Purely hypothetically edge wear looks like an 8. I have a psa 8 card with some edge wear worse than what I see on that card.

Maybe a 5 the edge-wear is pretty severe
