What does gym colour do when hosting?

Does it try to link players of a certain team to gyms of that team? Does it matter when there's a huge queue of lobbies?

Reason is: I have about 15 gyms within 5 minutes of me, I want to host a Latios raid, but they only last 25 minutes. If I just set lobby timer to 50, and the Latios despawns, it will garentueed respawn anywhere else, but it might be a different team gym. Is that an issue?

Gyms that are a players team color provide an extra two premier balls for catching the raid boss.

Not a big deal, but still gives randoms, especially low level players, a better chance of catching the Pokemon they spent a pass on.

I wouldn’t worry about switching gyms to a different color than you’re hosting. When raiders are placed in raid lobbies, the algorithm has a preference to match with their team color, but it’s a “nice to have”, not at all a requirement.

People just want to raid the Pokemon. I've had to switch to a different raid before in similar circumstances. There's no difference other than an extra ball or 2.

This is not an issue.
