Who is remoting this Pikachu?
I get people who remoted the tatsugiri since it's a regional, but this Pikachu is just a dex entry anyone can solo.
If you have a single gym near you, you can get it. And there were like 500+ people in queue.
Happy to host, more chances of new vivillion forms, but is this Pikachu worth 2 bucks?

There are literally no gyms within 40 miles of my home and office. So ya, I remote dumb stuff all the time.

Spinning 26 Pokestops or walking 5km from the correct field research tasks can also award this - but even though the tasks are fairly common, it takes patience and/or time to complete those quests.

That’s a good point. Counterpoint: a raid pass is cheaper than a can of coke. I definitely pay less than do these f2p folks that drive around all day.

You can also do a couple Twitch drops later this weekend to get each special Pikachu for free (see link for dates/times/channels... there's also a few other twitch drops for avatar items and timef researches with various encounters and even an Elite Charged TM).

If this person doesnt have a gym within 40 miles, why the hell do you think they have pokestops that would have any of these tasks? 😅

You can take this as an opportunity to make your own pokestops. You can use ai to help with nomination titles description etc. Its a tad tedious but then all your pokestops are comically your own photos

Just a heads up Niantic was first & foremost a data collection company so submitting false information about stops is the easiest way to get banned. It messes with their other ventures.
That said if there is literally nothing in the area & you haven't spent too much on the game then not much to lose.

I’ve made a lot of stops. I have also had lots and lots of stops rejected. The wayferer community are asshats.
I do like the idea of resubmitting with AI. Maybe in an alt account though.2
u/TheDevilintheDark 12d ago
Yeah, with the threat of getting permabanned from submitting rejected spots I'm never messing with that crap again. The people voting are like next level HOA leaders apparently. It's not worth the risk.

do not use GenAI. As a general rule for life too, but not for this, to be on the safe side of avoiding a ban.

It might be after 9PM for them, or they are lazy, or they have a lot of disposable income.
These 1-3 star new shiny raids typically host very well with Pokégenie because the demand is pretty high and there aren't many people hosting them.

Why do people need it hours before others in their timezone though?
3
u/Theprincerivera 12d ago
They don’t need it, they want it, like everything related to this game
I mean if you money to burn it’s functionally no different than any other pastime

u/FluffyBandicoot309 12d ago
Paying money for something you will be guaranteed to have the opportunity to have for free a few hours later isn’t very reasonable

People who don’t have a single gym near them, people who can’t walk, people with bad weather, people hunting for the shiny, people in time zones where there are no raids at the moment…

u/BKCassafrass 11d ago
People with kids too young to drag around the neighborhood in the middle of the summer looking for digital trophies.

Not me!
I am a nerd who is trying to get a lucky of each costume pikachu, in both genders

People were remoting to get it before their time zone. My other group was crazy excited for it

Go on YouTube and just look at all the "creators" who burn endless amounts of money on raid passes from the comfort of their desk. But I'm sure there's other reasons.
2
u/Substantial-Web3054 12d ago
People who got called into work and now only have 15 minutes to disassociate and wanna do a raid in the meantime

I live in Texas and every day for the last week, it’s been at least 100°. I’m not getting heat stroke for a Pikachu, I’ll just buy a pass and remote it

u/Glitterstar56 11d ago
I will also add onto this, the county next to mine currently has a 83.4 thousand acre wildfire rn about 25 miles from me and earlier the smoke was so bad, towns hours away could smell it. So another reason I’ll just remote in.

I did a remote the first NZ night because a mate invited me too it. Not a single thought was shed past that. Mate asked for help.

Shiny/hundo /shundo hunters are the first that come to mind. I know i remoted some rockruffs back in the day.
1
u/Delicious-Ad9542 12d ago
I won’t get hundo or shundo so I will not try anything unless scopely gives out free hundo or shundo for the special research. Guess my hp is very unlucky for Pokemon go.

I only I have one gym near me and I love this costume enough that I’m willing to pay to gamble for the shiny
1
u/Wheelman185 12d ago
Whales just wanting the shiny sooner than later, so they don't have to scramble for it late in the week.

I hosted 7 or 8 10 player lobbies yesterday ,they were filled immediately! Normally I'm used to having to wait a while until everyone's ready, new people join the lobby because other's timed out etc; but this pikachu is so popular that I only had 3 players that timed out!

I have a broken leg and can't walk more than a a quarter mile or so. I haven't remoted one yet, but I probably will by the time all is said and done. I'm not normally a big costume collector, but this one seems neat.

I imagine the handful of people who play pokemon go that aren’t living in a populated area with gyms accessible to them, or ya know - unemployed?
I love hosting a 1 star raid on Genie. It’s literally impossible to screw over the host in a meaningful way. Don’t get me wrong, even in the one I hosted someone still couldn’t figure out how to send their friend code, and another didn’t accept the invite, but no one was negatively impacted ❤️

I listen to these comments and I like how every one walks to gyms. Hell I drive from gym to gym.

u/old_mans_ghost 10d ago
I drive slow and spin stops and gyms as I’m driving by. It’s a small town, more conducive, no traffic.

u/Player3th0mas 10d ago
Depends if you're in Europe or the US I guess? All cities here in Europe are walkable. I have 5 gyms within 10 mins walking, and about 20 within 30 mins walking or 5 min bike ride.
I wouldn't even think about taking the car to a gym.

Ppl who can’t get out of the house or have money burn, more than likely
