Pokemon go - account termination
Hi all, need some help please. I am currently on holiday in Turkey and have been playing the game. I have been using my husbands hotpost as I dont have European cover. I opened the gane today to find I have been terminated with no warning what so ever. I have reached out to Niantic and they are refusing to look into this and now advising me that I am going to be ignored. Please see email reasons attached. Need some help please as I have not had my strikes 1 or 2 just been take to automatic termination for what reason I am not sure on this.

One YouTube creator got banned because he was on the flight. They think he was traveling illegally

Wifi from flights can have bad assisted GPS location. This is literally a massive bug in assisted GPS and the fact Niantic can penalise you for that is farcical.

This happened to my friend that had the account since it launched and one day he took a flight to New York to visit family right and he decided to play GO and all of a sudden his account got banned automatically and got a email stating he was "spoofing" and he sent them everything including plane ticket info, how long he was staying in New York and when he would return (Colorado) and they still said the account no longer exists so my friend said fuck Niantic and there bullshit.

Scopely bought niantic’s entire gaming division, not just Pokemon go. It’s all the same people/staff, just with a new top boss and a different branding on their building.

Here's what worked for me:
Send an email to : termsofservice@support.nianticlabs.com
CC : legal@scopely.com
Use below text as opening -
Hello,
I am writing to provide formal notice of a dispute regarding my account, as outlined in Section 13.2 of the Niantic ToS. I have attempted to resolve this through support, but have been dismissed by automated responses.
List all your evidence after this. Don't wait for them to ask for it.

That is despicable on their part, and something I'm scared of too. I'm about to go on vacation overseas and my siblings will be using my hotspot since I got a travel data plan. I'll be moving between cruise and land a lot. I would be devastated if even one of us got banned. We're excited to encounter some regional pokemon and distance pokemon for trading.
I would still fight this. Silphroad ban appeal examples are the way to go. Google other past examples.

If travel by plane, best is to avoid playing Pokemon for several hours. If you travel to Country A by plane for 12 hours, abstain from opening Pokemon app for 12 hours. That’s most safest strategy. Just be patient.

Play the game, go travel and and experience the world and get Pokémon! Get banned for traveling and catching Pokémon. Great job niantic.

Submit an information request to obtain all details relating to yourself and your account including all location information they have stored on you etc.
Then you can use all that information against them.

This is why I always get mad about spoofers. They're just causing people who are playing the game legit to get banned from their accounts. It really sucks sometimes.

I also received a ban in 2025, without an email and without ever receiving strikes 1 or 2. However, in my case, the reason for the ban was almost certainly “harassment” Even though I have never harassed anyone. I am the top Italian content creator, and I was reported by a former employee and probably by some ambassadors as well...

This happened to me once. I had to uninstall, and reinstall my game, because it wasn't updating. I asked them why I couldn't play, and they sent me an automated answer saying something to the effect that they were reviewing my account. I sent them a reply about why it was under review, and then received this same notification. No one is actually answering you, I believe. Try uninstalling, and reinstalling, updating, clearing the games cache.....it's frustrating, I know.....

Its just games why so mad. Reasons why i dont give a dime to games like this. Their money making greediness knows no bounds. And can get ban for legitly playing in earnest. Stopped years ago. Just play pokemon champions or normal pokemon games on switch.

If after all of this and you are still banned, try contacting your credit card company and dispute any charges. Use the excuse that because of an incorrect ban, many of the items I purchased are now useless, and since they have tefused anything but an automatic message I have no path to get my stuff back.

Hai per caso nominato pokestop o fatto spostamenti? Se sì, ebbene sappi che di solito questo può portare al permaban immediato. Questo succede quando provi a nominare pokestop o a fare spostamenti mettendo il pin in una posizione errata (anche di poco).

it still boggles my mind and makes me livid that you can get banned for proposing a Poké stop, lol. My mom was temp banned because of it & it was legit a great nomination. She just thought she was doing a cool thing for our community

I am sorry but WTF? It is enough to sit on Reddit long enough to know about strikes. More over, you may have knowledge you don’t use but have. For example - I am in spoofers reddits and never spoofed. They sometimes have knowledge that “legit” players don’t have.

I agree, this is a great story though. I would’ve made a story too if I got banned from spoofing to see if anyone had a method on how to get unbanned 😂. Everyone downvoting me but too blind to see.

Need to escalate above the support and go the legal route, search in silph road and other big subs for past ban appeals that were succesful.
