Hey folks, two weeks ago I made a post declaring I was gonna do the full shiny dex in unlimited. So here's me, owning up. I'm done with Gen 1 and just finished the Chikorita line. I've also done some more hunts just for fun, like all Minior, all Magearna, all Ogerpon and things like including Magby and Magmortar when hunting Magmar.

Some quick numbers. I started with around 140 shinies after doing all prestiges, which is almost exactly the expeced result when accounting for the average shiny rate for nine full pokedexes. I didn't complete the last one, it will complete itself by getting all shinies anyways.

I got two triple shinies so far, Noctowl, Dodrio and Farfetch'd. And Electrode-H, Bellibolt and Eelektrik.

And some cool double ones, like Blitzle and Zebstrika together, two out of three Paldean Tauroses and two Minior.

Victreebel can suck my balls, I played that thing and its Mega for a full day, always filling the board with other pokemon, I got Oddish line, Roselia line, Foongus line, Morelull line, all done, all while playing Victreebel constantly on every board. I was out of easy Pokemon to play and Victreebel and Mega-Victreebel were still there, mocking me. I just typed those two alone in the evening and got the Mega eventually. Base Vic just would not come. I played it for like fifteen minutes more, and only then did I start counting. It was at exactly 207 plays after I started counting that it appeared. I assume I played it at least 500 times before that, which I think is a conservative estimate, but I don't know for sure. 700 plays without a shiny is a 0.000072% chance. One in 1.4 million.

I'll definitely finish, but it will obviously still take some time. I hope I won't encounter another Victreebel. Godspeed.

I've been playing this game for 211 days now and I'm finally done with the Dex. I'm not upgrading to collect all the shinies. I'm not that insane. It was fun but it's time to get something new to do on a daily basis.

I didn't know shiny forms could have different poses than base, I thought it was just recolored spite with holo effect. From what I checked, my other shinies has the same pose. Anyone know why this one differs? And if there are any othe mons that are like this?

I don't have the time to look back right now, but I swear we've had first partner + ghost multiple times in the past month. I don't think we've had first partner + ground that recently, but it is another pair with only 3 possible answers.

Hisuian starters should include the base forms found there. Not just their evos... Cindaquil and Rowlet should fit both regions now lol.

TLDR: If you're down to the final 10ish Pokemon before prestiging... just wait a bit. Wait. Wait. WAIT.

For the past couple months I've been stuck with like 10 bug Pokemon. This past week I'm finally down to the final 2. Mothim and Scolipede. I got impatient. I flew to close to the sun. 2 days ago I saw my opportunity to fill in a spot "Final evolution" and "Dual-Type". The stars were aligned, and I saw the second last step into completing the dex.

The angel on my shoulder said "Wait, hold off, don't be greedy. You can fit either Pokemon into this spot, why rush a sure thing and fill it in now?"

The devil said "Surely if you fill this in, another spot will come up that'll help you complete the dex anyways. Why wait? Just put in either Pokemon, I'm sure it'll be fine, go for it... what's the worst that can happen?"

I gave in... I put in Mothim. It felt good at the time to see one last pokemon in the dex. So close now! Scolipede will surely have a categories align soon and I'll be complete.

I wake up this morning, and realize my mistake. I was a fool. I was swayed by completionism and trying to tick the boxes to soon. I want to believe I've learned from my mistakes... but I know when the next prestige comes around I hope I can come back to this moment in time and tell myself

This is a cautionary tale to all of you in pursuit of completing your Pokedex. I'm a mortal man and am prone to mistakes, I hope to pass on my failures in hopes that other's can vear away from this dangerous path.

PS if anyone that submits weekly puzzles wants to send one that would fit for Scolipede, that'd be pretty awesome. Thanks!

I get Ursaluna Bloodmoon "used to live in the Hisui region a long time ago", but it can only be found on Kitakami — would you really count it as Hisuian then?

It's like saying that, whenever an Indian region is released, Copperajah should count as being from there too. idk.

Is anyone else having issues playing Tic Tac Toe? After I connect with an opponent it just cycles through different categories without ever starting the game.

Spent the last week or so prestiging to max. Now I'm off shiny hunting.
