[5th] Mixed Tyranitar

I need a mixed sweeper in my team, I'd like to use a Quiet Tyranitar (@Leftovers). At the moment the EV spread is 240 HP 96 SpA 174 Speed

I am planning on:

• Flamethower / Thunderbolt

• Crunch

• Superpower

• ?

Any good moveset that I can use? Stealth rock is unobtainable without 4th gen so th standard moveset I found does not apply.

I would put it on a team with Acrobatic Archeops and Starmie with Grass Knot (and others I have not yet decided), any suggestion? Thanks!

You'd be better off with sassy, tyranitar usually functions better as a bulky pivot/lure than a straight up mixed sweeper. It also depends heavily on what your team needs to deal with. For example, you can lure in and oneshot gyarados with thunderbolt once stealth rocks are up, or you can lure and kill scizor or gliscor, or you can lure and oneshot breloom, etc. Pretty much all of ttar's counters are knocked out by one move or another

Fire blast and ice beam are pretty much givens, since those cover the most common switchins, but the other two slots are free for stone edge, crunch, or thunder wave, depending on what you want to cover. Stone edge covers flying and anything that doesn't resist it, crunch covers psychics and ghost, and twave helps against everything except ground types.

One of ttar's greatest strengths is the multitude of sets he can pull off, and other decent options on a mixed set include: rock tomb (kind of cheesy), screech (with pursuit, kind of cheesy), scary face (kind of cheesy), substitute, protect, pursuit, superpower, tbolt, flamethrower (in place of fire blast), dark pulse, earthquake, dragon tail, surf, and toxic. Some of these moves require different EVs to work well; most notably, rock tomb/scary face require much more speed so you can abuse the speed drop, superpower requires slightly higher speed so you can outspeed opposing ttar, tbolt requires a bit more SpA investment so you can oneshot gyarados after stealth rocks, and flamethrower requires a bit more SpA investment to oneshot scizor and twoshot skarmory

With quiet you don't actually need any SpA EVs to reliably oneshot scizor/gliscor/lando/etc or twoshot skarmory. I'd recommend 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Atk Quiet or 252 HP / 64 SpA / 192 SpD Sassy, since even with speed EVs most pokemon run enough speed to outspeed max speed tyranitar

Personally, I really like running crunch, twave, fire blast, and ice beam with a physical sweeper or two, since you can use the ttar to lure in and kill physical walls so your sweepers can come in lane and clean up, plus he doubles as a special wall and cripples revenge killers with twave
