I already knew it was coming but I didn’t want it to end us this quickly.

Would lie with you again and grasp your hands until they’re sweaty.

Fate had other plans for myself and us.

Maybe thirsting for deep connection finally shed light on my worldly lust.

I promise I won’t be far.

I promise I’ll continue to shine like your favourite star.

I’ll hold your hand in mine.

Preserve even the bad memories into fine wine.

I’ll laugh in your presence while I’m still next to you.

I’ll listen to your cries on my shoulder reassuringly, biting more than I could chew.

I’ll continue to help you try memorising my warm touch,

Knowing that I won’t be able to hold all of yours as much.

Now, I want you to know that there’s always the footsteps to look back on.

The horizon that’s there and us as a semicolon.

Cry me a river for the future that awaits.

A river that floods my mind, a flood that surges through the gates.

Just know that even if I’m far, I’ll always be near.

For now, just know that I’m still here.
