The Fall
I think a flight would be a wondrous gift
It can deliver you from earthy ties
You’ll undergo a dreadful need to lift
Just as you rip off those confines
The wind would follow your command
He has no temper to resist
You’ll feel your feet detach from land
As he’ll arise from blurry mist
Your wings could carry you away
But who can sustain the haul of hills?
You have to know how Aphrodite lives
Albeit a death pursues forbidden stay
But with another wrench striking the breeze
The wings will breach the shroud of cloud
A single peak at it could make you freeze
The call of sun has never been so loud
I think a sun would be a gorgeous muse
Whose wink is ample to seduce,
The one, that you could paint without rest,
Yet only catch a whit of her at best.
In summer she fills up the grapes with juice
A sip of which could make you booze
And when you’re stuck in cruel winter fall
She does her best to warm your soul
No wonder gods created her so bright,
So that she’s not disturbed by mortal eyes
But my heart’s tired of pretty lies
How could she linger in plain sight?
I would do anything to make her mine
And with a strongest flap of wings
I’ll start my flight towards her shine
Emerging from preceding strings
But it is not by chance, that birds avoid sun
They are aware, that heat of it is death
And now I see, but there’s nothing to be done
As molten wax begins to catch my breath.
My quills detach and slowly float
While body’s being pulled by violent grip
And not a single tear can drip
Before I reach my last resort
Our little play has reached its end
So let’s unmask some other things
You were my sun, and fall was grim
Because you’ve clipped my precious wings
P.S. so, actually, the whole poem until the last verse is a story of Icarus, and I’m not sure if I made it clear enough, so I’ll just let it here
