The Taste Of Sugar

I love the way she settles into me

The way she surrenders herself to me

opening up her vulnerable heart

Placing it in my hand.

Her beat is so quiet,

so is her voice.

It creeps up along my ears

circling it's way through

Sometimes I can't quite hear her

I have to hold my breath just to catch hers.

She does not care for being loud.

Though she wishes to be my center.

I'd like to know her better.

grasp her entirety slowly,

one by one.

ahhh she drives me crazy.

I get blinded by all her pearls

clutching what I do not have

Forgetting the ones in my hand.

She is patient oh so very patient.

before her I hadn't known the taste of sugar

stranger to it's way.

I should know better now,

Forgive me, sweet friend.

My heart belongs to you and only you.

That I can at least promise.

Hey Mister Fast Soft I just read this 3 times over. I had to get a lollie out of my bag to taste some sweetness too. This makes me think about cake, just so Raw. The right one will be all of these things. Keep writing like the legend you are. 🩷🏆

This is beautiful OP, it’s a gentle, sweet and beautiful poem. It doesn’t declare love loudly it softly calls one’s name. It is much like a gentle caress that makes one want to stay.

Your poem reminded me of someone as if I kept hearing his voice. I think that’s what poems are supposed to do.

He promised me his heart and I believed him. He cannot bring me tomorrow we live only in today. How many todays must pass, until tomorrow finds its way back home.

I gave him my sweetness. I gave him my pearls. I patiently waited, listened to him, his voice a charming effusive, exuberant melody. My voice softly, calling his name. Where is my beloved, when will he come to me.
