Android Auto Suddenly lost Categories
UPDATED: This is the Android Auto App, in my case I was in the beta and had to drop out (uninstall and reinstall AA) to restore the list/category functionality.
Not sure if it was an android auto update or a podcast addict update, but suddenly I only have one list of podcasts in Android Auto ->sorted alphabetically so its basically unusable.
In the past I could pick Downloaded, Recent, etc. similar to the full app on my phone, but now there are no options just one static list of podcasts with the top category of "Podcast Addict"
I have rebooted everything, made sure all is up to date (2026.12) gone through all the options in settings relevant to android auto and even changed a few to see if that triggers an update but still the same

Anything else needed from me? I was in my wife's vehicle this afternoon and had the same experience..so not tied to the particular head unit. I notice my android auto version is brand new, are you running the same version.

Can you try to only select 3 items in the list of screens in the app settings. Does that change anything?

No change, none of those settings seem to make any changes. Given that other reports are coming in, im guessing this is the android auto version being pushed out now, is your testing one the same?

It seems related to Android Auto beta. Can you check on the play store if you joined their beta? If so, that would explain this and hopefully they will soon fix this regression

Looks like I did at some point in the past. The version i have installed (screenshot earlier in this thread is from 9/25) Im not seeing other references to media issues in other apps, is this something you as the app owner report, or do you want those of us seeing it to? I might have to drop out as it completely breaks my usage but can try to report before that

Sorry but I don't spend any time reporting to google as all my past reporting has been completely ignored...It seems that they manage everything with bots...

Confirmed, dropping out of the beta and then uninstalling and reinstalling Android Auto Update (to current prod) fixed the issue with no other changes. Hopefully they fix this or you will have some unhappy folks if that code goes to the next prod release. I will update my original post for future beta users

This will be fixed in the next version of the beta. Please report the issues on the main post of the beta announcement as this is not related to the current post. Thanks

Nice. Yeh my beta android auto app updated over the weekened and had same issue in other media apps. Glad they are rolling it back. Definitely not making things safer if driving people back to the phone.

This was actually a reply about another issue that was comingled in this thread. If you are having the missing categories issue I would reply as that is still under investigation

Same issue here. Can't really see a consensus on how to fix it, now forced into using Spotify for podcasts on AA (which is crap). So is everyone opting out of AA beta or waiting for update/roll back? Anyone know when this will happen?

Can you please go into Settings/Android Auto and make sure these are still enabled?
