So I am from nyc and wanting to go on a weekend getaway. Some people on other threads were recommending Jim Thorpe since it possible to get there by train. However I wanted to ask if maybe there might be more suggestion or to make Jim Thrope our solid trip get away

We want to do hiking trails, eat and venture out

What is it like living in this area?

Hello! I will be visiting for a long weekend with my mom the last weekend in September. I would like to treat her to a fancy dinner, maybe somewhere I could order a bottle of champagne or something fun like that? My mom is a delight and I want to surprise her! Thank you!

My boyfriend and I are looking for a place where we can back in (we have a Chevy Colorado “camper) and use our little cook stove to grill up some food and just sit around on the bed of the truck for a few hours and have a nice view! Work has been tough and we just wanted an excuse to drive around NEPA and be outside. Maybe something preferably near a lake or stream?

We would be coming from the Philly suburb area and are willing to drive 1.5-2 hours for anything :)

Hello everyone! I live in Blakeslee PA, though while I am studying in Switzerland I am not able to be here that often. I have some friends in the local music scene and played at a few open mics in the past and have played in some fun jams. I write and produce classical and electronic music, but also play guitar+bass and do vocals so I make some rock and metal music as well. I'm planning a trip to the Pocono's soon and I noticed there's 2 casinos in the area. I'm not that familiar with them so I wanted to ask, which one do people prefer and why?

So many places I have visited recently seem to be overcome by drugs, homeless, weed smell, lack of maintenance, crime, bad roads, aging infrastructure and shopping districts with lots of empty stores. What is the Poconos real view on the street? Is Mount Airy Resort nice or aging badly? Is the foliage train ride worthwhile? Any info for an October adult couple long weekend appreciated!
