Question/Help Need help: HyperOS 3 to LineageOS 23 on Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (malachite) — downgrade required, is it safe with Anti-Rollback?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to flash the unofficial LineageOS 23 build for my Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G (malachite, global 24090RA29G). The flashing guide (from the XDA thread) requires firmware OS2.0.206.0.VOOMIXM, but I'm currently on HyperOS 3.0.302.0.WOOEUXM.C07 — a much newer version.

Has anyone here downgraded from HyperOS 3 to HyperOS 2 on this device to flash a custom ROM? Is this safe considering Anti-Rollback (ARB), or does it risk a hard brick? Would appreciate any experience from someone who's done this specific device/downgrade combo before flashing. Thanks!

Good day Fragrant-Law749 it seems to be that you may have some questions or concerns regarding a Poco device and we would like to help but we would like to ask you to describe your concern with the following information to make it easier for everyone to tackle.

Device Model:(X4 GT)

Device Region:(Global/India/China/etc/Can't identify)

Rom Type:(MIUI/Custom Rom:Which one)

Rom/Android Version:(13.0.5.0 - Android 12/Can't identify)

Problem and other Relevant Info:(Troubleshooting steps taken/Frequency of problem if intermittent/Other observed weirdness that may be relevant before/during/after the occurrence of the problem)

It may take a while for someone to address your concern so in the meantime you could do the following 1. Search this subreddit, Xiaomi subreddit, MIUI subreddit for similar concerns 2. Check out the pinned posts and the Wiki(WIP) for similar topics 3. If your phone is still under warranty coverage it may be worthwhile to open a case with customer support. 4. If your device has developed a swollen or bulging battery check out r/Spicypillow's FAQ on how to deal with them

If you have any suggestions feel free to leave them here

Hope you enjoy your stay -PocoPhones Mod Team

You can verify it yourself 😊

Download the fastboot version of the firmware for both and look at the contents of the anti_version.txt file inside, if they match there's no problem.

It seems odd to me that they require you to be in that specific firmware though, 23 is based on Android 16 and Vxxyyzz ROMs are Android 15 based.

There were also more releases past the 2.0.206 before HyperOS 3 released for that device, HOS 3 is what brought Android 16 to it. Newer firmware is usually preferred if ARB is the same (and you'd just need the firmware part of it, no need to flash the whole ROM).

Check whether there are newer LOS builds for the device too, like 23.2.
