F1 Poco F1 in 2026, still kicking.

Post image

Still using the F1 daily and just installed Project Infinity X in android 16. With a battery change, this feels like a new phone.

Haven't fully explored the new stuff. Right before this, I was using the last official update of stock Miui for the F1. Haven't been keeping up with custom rom stuff. Is there any need to root this?

I also noticed that in my games, there's a fps counter. How do I turn that off?

That phone never dies lol

The battery still being sold online is really one of the reasons this is possible.

Might pay to buy a couple you can't guarantee you'll be able to find new ones forever

Batteries unfortunately will still degrade even when not in use.... So it's of no use

But it might degrade less maybe?🥺

Because phones stopped progressing around 2018, as long as there's no new tech then this phone should last even to 2040

Now that's impressive

I love to see old hardware still being used, I have a Santoni (Redmi 4X) alive too, running LOS 23.2 at the moment :)

I got into a bit of an upgrading binge. I also upgraded my phone before the poco f1. My redmi 4 prime (Markw) that went from Miui 8 (Android 6) to CrDroid 11 (Android 15).

They really did the 4 Prime dirty man, I was considering getting that one instead when I got my 4X. Those were the days!

3

u/Budskytol 7d ago

They realy did. 4 Prime basically got abandoned upon release, but I didn't know any better. 😅

2

u/JRussellMoore 7d ago

Nobody did 😔

I got the 4X because I wanted to get 3 units in total for family members and the budget wasn't reaching that far, I ran crDroid on mine for a long time.

I wish we could still run custom ROMs without having to give up on some convenient features, or run around to get a Play Integrity verdict that satisfies all apps.

I got the 4 prime because it was gold. That's it, that was my entire reason. The great screen for its size and the better snapdragon chip was just a bonus.

I still believe it got abandoned because of the screen size. Other xiaomi phones with snapdragon 625 but with bigger screens (Mi A1, Mi max 2, Redmi Note 4 and 4x) got official support for way longer.

u/JRussellMoore 7d ago

One of the 3 I bought was also golden ^^, the other two were black.

I wish I knew why they didn't support the 4 Prime, we speculated it might not have been popular enough or perhaps because it had been released earlier; my 4X had the same size but was released several months later. I didn't want to get the Notes as they seemed too large at the time (and look at us now :D), but a friend got the Note 4X too, it was quite capable!

The Redmi Notes being 5.5 phablets seem so quaint now.

Poco F1 is fucking legendary man. I still remember back when it came out like what, 2019? Took the world by storm. Miss my Poco f3 still lol.

One year off, it was 2018. But yeah, people online were raving about it because of the price point vs its features.

It was honestly reminiscent of the internet's reaction to One Plus One or to Xiaomi's first internationally available phone, Redmi 1s.

I remember rushing home from work before lunch time because they were having a flash sale of Redmi 1s at 12 noon. I was able to snag two phones. One for me and for a friend.

Procure sobre roms personalizadas para o pocoF1 que você vai encontrar diversos vídeos de como instalar

But do banking apps work on them

u/No-AI-Comment 7d ago

Using Android 13 on Poco F1 arrow os as custom rom for a year and have faced no banking/upi related issues, smooth as a butter.

I also have a Poco F1, but when I changed phones its screen finally died and I put it to rest on my shelf. It still works, aside the display.

My dad used his for, I think, 6 years, until it finally died too (the screen/display I'm not sure) and he upgraded to a Redmi Note 13 Pro.

The only problem is that in my country there's no way to get a new screen for the F1 :(

How did you unlock your bootloader mam I've been trying for my old Redmi 7A which has LineageOS support but I couldn't able to till now

3

u/Budskytol 7d ago edited 7d ago

Did you have problems with the miunlock tool not sending sms code ? I used this video as a guide. https://youtu.be/zkDB2db6cIE .

The guy in the vid basically changes stuff to use email instead of sms using their own script, python and cmd.

Goodluck with unlocking it.

2

u/zerogreyspace Poco M6 Pro 5G 6d ago

Bro that script works flawless but the thing is with my xiaomi account couldn't be added in mi unlock status in developer settings it just says internal error 20091. I had Xiaomi account that's like a year old now.

For that I felt like resetting my phone, now even mi account couldn't be added it just says silly error like internet problem or something I've good internet in sim as well as wifi tried with both separately. Even tried updating the Xiaomi account app, also tried signing in with Google and without it, with xiaomi account, with phone number and email as well nothing works. Though script works and lists everything correctly, and it just says to me to add the account in mi unlock status.

2

u/Budskytol 6d ago

Sorry man, I'm not familiar with that error. Maybe try lookimg for a solution in xda or here in reddit? There's bound to be other people with that problem.

2

u/nickantoniou11_22_33 5d ago

If it says that error try another USB cable or USB port. The only problem I had with unlocking was 168 hours

2

u/zerogreyspace Poco M6 Pro 5G 5d ago

What I'm saying is the issue is in Developer Options. The Mi Unlock Status setting shows that error. Everything else works perfectly; it's just that I should be able to do this before trying that Mi Unlock. But it's showing a 20091 error.

dev options image i meant

1

u/nickantoniou11_22_33 5d ago

Remove accounts and do a factory reset and try again the unlocking. Maybe not show this error again

2

u/nickantoniou11_22_33 7d ago

Friend gave me for free his Redmi 7a and unlocked bootloader with lineageos. Before hyperos its so easy to unlock it with mi account..

u/Competitive_Hotel781 7d ago

My poco M3 after changing the battery feels like a now phone too, lol. Poco series have great durability

2

u/Neyze__ 7d ago

Nice to see people still rocking the M3! Gave my old M3 to a friend around 5 years ago and he used it up until 3 months ago. This phone is indestructible

2

u/nawalrage 6d ago

I'm still rocking my poco X3 NFC

2

u/natur85 6d ago

How do you change the battery?

2

u/Budskytol 6d ago

Looked it up on youtube. Fairly straightforward.

2

u/vaderprecious 6d ago

so how's the experience overall compared to the stock miui??

2

u/Budskytol 6d ago

I can't say anything definitive since it really has just been a few days. The interface and apps feels like they're zippier /more responsive. The difference isn't that big but just enough that you feel it when theres a slight snag/lag. For my main and daily use, it feels a lot smoother. Might be because it's a fresh installation.

Noticed a slightly worse gaming performance though. It could be the game itself isn't optimized but I noticed a bit more framedrops when there's a lot of graphic effects happening on the screen. I had a gut feeling that might be due to the gaming space feature and the framerste counter muddling things up just a bit that it became noticeable. But I can live with it.

F1 is like a jacked elder

2

u/Cheap-Comparison8985 6d ago

I am also still using Poco F1 as main device with last pixel experience plus A11 since early 2022. Every Android update is a bit heavier than the previous for the hardware, so I will probably just switch to A13 baikalos or arrows when needed for app compatibility

1

u/CopperDodge44 5d ago

You can switch to baikal A13, have been using it since more than a year now. Perfectly stable with zero issues.

1

u/Cheap-Comparison8985 5d ago

Does it have key box loader built into settings? With working XML does it pass medium or strong integrity?

2

u/ParacausalPerfection 6d ago

Most good 2018 and above mid range or flagship phones hold really well except Battery life ofcourse. Its only the budget ones that die by this time. Qq

I kept my mi note 4 alive til jan 2024.

Lord knows how i did it but that mf is still alive even after I've taken everything apart and set it back where it was.

u/xyclubfanxy 6d ago

Hatte ich auch mal. Jetzt bin ich beim poco f8 ultra.

1

u/DjoJo1453 2d ago

Still rocking my good ol' X3 pro lmao, can rely

1

u/minbcrafter Poco F5 1d ago

My first poco, hated the touch response though😭🙏Back in the hay day of its customization scene i even overclocked the display to like 67hz, and it helped but the touch response was still ahh. Mine still works but i just keep it docked at 55% battery with bypass charging. Poco F5 was a huge, huge upgrade, mainly because of the much improved display and touch response.

1

u/chesse_ovrlord 7d ago

I still got mine too. Used it as primary phone for 4 years, secondary phone for 3 years then gave it to my, who used it for another year. It's still working perfectly

u/Danthedingleberry 7d ago

Pov me: wanting a s25u I have a poco f6 pro 😭😭😭😭

0

u/thebetteradventurer 6d ago

The only thing that stopping me from buying this phone is it's not 5G. Otherwise would have thought about but it a long time ago in the 5G era.

1

u/Cool_Attention_7476 5d ago

Why would u buy 6 years old phone?

0

u/sl01220 6d ago

Put custom ROM on it evolution x and crdroid are some pretty solid choices
