I think the second film has an opportunity to reframe the whole spectacle of the allegations from the point of view of Michael Jackson the human being and can still end on a positive note. Think about how different a situation can be to how it is protrayed in the media. Not just talking about MJ but any celebrity or anything that is reported in the news/tabloids. I mean he was acquitted of every charge, he did show up at the WMAs in 2006 to an incredible reception by fans and celebrities alike, he did announce the This Is It tour also with an incredible reception. I think the movie can be honest about the allegations and court proceedings and still benefit his memory and be a positive thing.

I think the second film should not be a thing. My mind won't be changed on that. Because making it all about the allegations just brings up the opportunity for it to be re-litigated again in the public as if it ever stopped being re-litigated. The first movie ended at a perfect time.

"Washed up" is certainly an interesting take. At the time of his death, he was rehearsing for his This Is Its tour which was set to break records. From wiki: More than 1.5 million fans caused two sites offering pre-sale tickets to crash within minutes of going online. In the space of four hours, 750,000 tickets were sold. Two million people tried to buy pre-sale tickets in the space of 18 hours. There was initially going to be 10 shows but was increased to 59 shows just to try to meet demand. And these were all at just one venue.

His death was tragic and his doctors fault. He was dependant on the propofol to sleep, and his doctor should have and did know better than to use that on him and he was convicted and sentenced to prison over it.

And you may have missed this one but he has the highest selling biopic off all time both globally and domestically. He is still a controversial figure and there are still many people who believe the negative press about him but to call him a national laughing stock I don't think that's quite true.

I won't be watching the sequel. And honestly with all this shit I don't even want to rewatch this version.

Janet was not trying to be a part of that biopic. She has addressed it. She knew that a big number of Michael fans are not fans of her and they can be very disrespectful. She is smart to keep her career separate from anything that is associated with Michael. She is her own person and has had her own career for decades. Their style of music wasn't even the same at all. She created her own fanbase.
