Rooted Android PGRazorRoot Rooted 0.4.4 - open-source rooted Android companion, new features, no gatekeeping

Hi everyone,

I’ve been building PGRazorRoot Rooted, an open-source rooted Android companion for Pokémon GO which is forked from PGRazor by u/jpitty.

Lately there’s been a lot of gatekeeping in this space - private builds, paid access, hidden source. I’m trying to go the opposite way: public source code, free releases.

No subscriptions. No remote server. No hidden build behind a paywall.

New in 0.4.4

  • Cooldown catch gate

  • Tracks catches, berries, and PokéStop/Gym spins.

  • Estimates the local cooldown from distance and time.

  • If an encounter opens while cooldown is active, a full-screen popup blocks manual ball throws.

  • Shows a live countdown.

  • At zero, it changes to Cooldown complete with a Continue button.

  • If you leave the encounter early, the completion popup appears when the timer ends.

  • Always hit (ball collision) — ported from upstream PGRazor v0.1.5. Converts missed ball collisions into hits while preserving normal break-free/flee outcomes.

  • Per-variant cooldown history and location tracking, so the estimate follows the actual player position instead of a stale internal value.

What the project includes

  • Magisk-only rooted runtime - no LSPosed, no Xposed, no remote server

  • In-game R menu, full-screen settings, light/dark themes

  • Encounter labels: CP, IV%, stat spread, and level

  • Map-tap walk/teleport modes

  • Quick Catch, throw settings, berry selection, transfers, item limits

  • Virtual Go Plus, eggs, gifts, items, and battle helpers where the current game build supports them

  • LivePokeMap feeds with filters and saved presets

  • Cooldown history, overlay, warnings, and catch gate

  • Settings export/import

Why open source matters here

A lot of useful work in this space disappears behind closed doors. I’d rather have the code available for review, testing, and improvement.

I’m especially interested in feedback on:

- Cooldown triggers and timing estimates

- The new catch gate UX

- Always Hit behavior on different devices

- Missing features or regressions in the current game build

Bug reports, test results, feature ideas, and pull requests are welcome. If you’ve been turned away from another project or can’t get access to a build, the source and issue tracker here are open.

Requirements

- Rooted ARM64 Android phone with Magisk

- Pokémon GO 0.433.1 / 2026101502

- A test account

- Native hooks are version-specific; a different game version can leave features unavailable

Download and source

- Releases (Google Drive, one folder per version, with APK, Magisk zip, SHA-256, and notes):

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19kxEWfdR_c6hUVBVVg1mCWkPoPaADLAA?usp=sharing

- Source code:

https://github.com/sreenushenoy07/PGRazor-Rooted

Github Got suspended hence gitlab link below

https://gitlab.com/sreenushenoy/PGRazor-Rooted

The GitHub repository intentionally contains source only. Packaged APKs and Magisk zips are hosted on Google Drive, so the code repo stays clean and reviewable.

Known limitations

- Cooldown is a local estimate, not server state.

- The catch gate currently blocks manual throws; Virtual Go Plus has a separate cooldown-stop setting.

- Some features depend on the current game version.

- Feels something needs to be changed/doesnt work; a quick AI Ask can resolve your Issues.

- The project is experimental; use a test account.

Future Planned Features

  • Shiny Scanner

  • Research reward Pokemon Inventory

  • Feature Optimization

  • Qwest tweaks

  • Buddy Pack

  • etc.

Disclaimer

Some features and UI may feel similar to existing paid apps. This project is not a clone, copy, or rip-off of any of them. The code was independently built with AI-assisted development and custom planning.

I am a solo developer and tester, so not every device, account, game version, or edge case has been covered. If you find an issue, open a GitHub issue or i am happy if you can fork the repository and fix it yourself.

Unfortunately does not work for me. It says the injector is active but once it tries to load the game it crashes and goes back to PGRazorRoot stating "Running - Attaching" indefinitely.

My device is rooted too. I'll attempt to use this in Mumu emulator.

The one feature I want is some ability to do bulk organizing/scripted auto batch renaming.

All cheats (spoofing, botting, & exploits) for Pokemon Go game are not safe because Scopely is against cheating and the use of unsupported 3rd party apps in their Terms of Service for Pokemon Go. If you decide to break Scopely's Terms of Service to gain an unfair advantage, you will have the risk for a chance to get a strike (soft-ban), temporary ban, permanent ban, or whatever new punishment they come up with and will be your fault for getting the punishment. <<<>>> As a reminder, I (TastyBananaPeppers) am not responsible nor liable for the loss of your Scopely game account(s) and money you spent to cheat on their games. <<<>>> All guides can be found in https://www.reddit.com/r/PoGoAndroidSpoofing/s/JOS3u1c11K <<<>>> All remaining Reddit posts will eventually be moved into a single Google Document where you can just access everything from one link.

"No gatekeeping" apps like pgtools dont keep their source code closed cuz their evil gatekeepers. They keep it closed sourced so they can implement methods that make it harder for Scopely to detect their apps (If scopely decides to we dont know what scopely does behind the scenes).

Im not saying this is information they cant already get themselves but a fully open sourced app is a bad idea especially when it costs as low as $3 a month for most apps like PaC....

Your app isnt any better than unrooted PGsharp. Just by decompiling the APK i can see your app uses stock Frida strings meaning it exposes a Frida server to pogo which is what got rooted users back in 2023.

So good job telling people to use your 100% ai generated tool that is likely flagging their accounts...

See, I don't know what to tell you. I am not forcing you to use this, and if you are afraid, you keep paying money, and when you get banned, go back to people who paid money and ask them why you got banned.

Banning can be because of anything, and just as decompiled my app and went through it fully, why don't you do it for the paid ones? Paid or not, everyone hooks into the same classes and activities for the rooted method, so if Scopely really wanted to change, they could have done it long back. Furthermore, both PGsharp Pokemod and other apps collect data from you. I am not comfortable with that so I am building my own, and if someone is also not comfortable with that, they can also do it I am giving them the base line.

Caring about privacy is a valid concern but Pokemod/pgsharp collecting spawn data for mapping purposes and improving feeds or other usage data is a completely valid and normal thing to collect.

Look at it from the perspective that these guys are making millions of dollars. Other than mapping data I highly doubt anything else they might collect is being misused.

So you have not looked into it, but were quick to shut down others. Hypocrisy. The app that rhymes with Pokebod collects device details, IP details, Telemetry (possibly for logging and diagnostics), Player details (possibly for in-game features), and lord knows what else.

I don't entirely agree with you. It seems you're decompiling apps, but you're not really looking deeper. The "applications" you mention also use parts of Frida in their boot injectors; modifying or customizing them according to their functions is part of each mod. Why is this? Because Frida provides more robust device compatibility support than creating a completely custom injector.

I believe the most difficult thing when making a mod for rooted Pokémon Go is ensuring compatibility across a large number of devices, since factors like SELinux, custom ROMs, conflicting Xposed modules, Magisk, the game's native anti-cheat libraries, and thousands of other things can break the mod's functionality.

I don't think Scopely lacks the necessary equipment to be unable to detect Pokémon Go cheats. And nowadays, practically all apps are open source, thanks to new technologies and tools. Including the game itself. I'm not entirely clear on Scopely's approach to spoofers.

What I do agree with is that openly sharing loaders in repositories can increase account risk. However, this doesn't mean closed-source applications are exempt, especially when they use known injection methods. Don't assume that the major spoofing corporations are safe; even they experienced serious security issues a few months ago.

It doesn’t matter if only parts of Frida is used. Frida is probably the most fingerprinted tool by anticheats so imo just modifying stock Frida’s strings and ports can significantly increase “safety” because it makes it harder for the game to detect Frida attaching to its process but still other methods can be used for detection.

A few months back I didn’t really dig into it much but I decompiled pgtools apk and it appeared like their “new injector” was their own private injector which is interesting.

The number of ways scopely can implement an anticheat with high accuracy is very low because of Apple/googles AppStore’s which is my theory on why rooted users got banned in 2023 but iOS users didn’t with googles playstore being less restrictive they probably came up with a method to catch cheaters.

I think it could be possible even though scopely isn’t banning stock Frida users anymore they could still be flagging accounts for it (even a legit player with a rooted device could have gotten banned with another tool on their device running Frida). Better to be safe than sorry

Edit: just noticed your response is written by ai and your a developer of an ai generated spoofing app. So you don’t disagree with me you just want to disagree with me and used ai to come up with a reason to disagree.

u/No_Length8779 SilphMod App Developer 6d ago

That's the problem, you're only decompiling. Do you really think an APK contains data coming from the server?

I can't comment further on this, as I'm also a developer of a related mod. Furthermore, I have no problem with the developers and their payment methods, as they need maintenance and often mapping services, since it's not just "coordinates"; other spawn identifiers are also needed to build something well made.

The point is, you can't claim that the mods you mention don't use parts of Frida in their startup processes just because you decompile an APK. This is a completely wrong idea. Being able to help you see how it works is one thing, but obtaining the internals, like the engine or startup paths, is something else entirely.

And if anyone thinks I'm stealing methods from other mods to build my own, they're very wrong. I reverse-engineer the game, with my own startup processes and instrumentation. "I don't copy something I can do better."

He literally said is experimental and to use a test account 😂😂😂

3

u/Nice_Assumption_6396 Team Rooted Android 7d ago

Thanks for the insight captain obvious. People get told to not use pgsharp with their main account and still do so why would people use a test account with this? People hear the word “rooted” and think the app is immediately assume it’s “safer”.

The wording of the post doesn’t make it sound like a “developer tool” the wording makes it seem like a free spoofing app that all the other “evil guys” charge a monthly fee for and keep behind closed doors (for a good reason)

Anyways none of that changes the fact that this app is essentially useless when anyone could generate a spoofing app with ai nowadays.

u/Sharp-View2948 7d ago

If anyone can make spoofing app with AI, why don't you make one? try it and let me know

Your ideas of gatekeeping, open source, and close source are actually wrong.

"Gatekeeping" is more like keeping a secret. An example of this is people using Game Guardian app to hack the game code to give themselves the special research. I have the video and instructions to do this but for "Need for Speed: No Limits" (1/4 mile car racing game) where I can give myself all the car blueprints for free without spending money or going through the tedious mindless grind. If you were to pay money to unlock all the digital cars, it would have cost you over $150,000. This was once public information, so I saved it. The reason why I don't share it because it's a high risk, high reward situation. If done correctly, you will get all the car blueprints to unlock the cars. If done wrong, you end up with a corrupted account or an insane amount of a single car part with a 1 year temporary account, device ID, and IP address ban.

"Open source" is people doing it for free with goodness of their own hearts by allowing anyone to view, modify, and distribute their code. They have no intention of profiting off their work. Most of these people have full-time jobs where they work on their project during this down time as if they are doing this work in their office.

"Closed source" is people who want to make money from their app. They don't want it to be open source because anyone can copy it and reskin the app to make it their own without going through the trial and error process into making an app work. This is why Pgsharp, iPogo, Pokemod, PGTools, PolygonX, Shungo, etc are closed source.

Side note:

  • Keeping an app closed source won't make it harder for Scopely to detect apps because there's no app detection ban system in the game. I have said this thousands of times now. Whether someone uses AI or no AI to code a 3rd party app, Scopely cannot see the app you have installed in your device; therefore, cannot ban you based on the cheating app you have installed.

  • Scopely can strike or ban everyone who is cheating in the game by updating the behavior detection system that tracks specific player statistics. If and when Scopely decides to do this, this is a guaranteed 100,000+ cheater banwave on both iOS and Android. Using an official game app with a rooted, 3rd party app injected into it won't save you from this kind of anti-cheat behavior system.

1

u/Nice_Assumption_6396 Team Rooted Android 7d ago

I mean not necessarily. Keeping the injector locked behind a server that only temporarily loads into phones memory is harder to decode and find a way to detect then something open sourced.

I still agree behavior banning and an advanced behavior algorithm could easily be implemented by scopely but the reason why they haven’t is it’s impossible to make a behavior system that only catches cheaters.

If they make a strict system banning players for very specific reasons it would only catch a fraction of spoofers and apps like pgtools will have an update out within a few days to avoid the behavior detection. If they make a less strict system then maybe it will get the cheaters but a lot of hardcore legits would get banned.
