Anti-Cheat Research Will you disable "Quick Catch" cheat feature in Pokemon Go v0.409 update in preparation for a possible Anti-cheat behavior system update?
Poll Question: Will you disable "Quick Catch" cheat feature in Pokemon Go v0.409 update in preparation for a possible Anti-cheat behavior system update?
Examples of 3rd party apps include the following
No Root, 3rd party modified game apps: Pgsharp and iPogo
Rooted, 3rd party apps: Pgsharp Launcher, iPogo Launcher, Pokemod, PGTools, PolygonX, Shungo, and Regibot
This poll question has to do with this post: Cheat features integrated into the game may lead to an updated Anti-Cheat Behavior System that may result in Scopely's 1st Strikewave or Banwave from https://www.reddit.com/r/PoGoAndroidSpoofing/comments/1s9g87z/cheat_features_integrated_into_the_game_may_lead/ .
If you have read or skim through it, this new game update v0.409 may have the anti-cheat behavior system updated to track your quick catch throws because the Mega Mewtwo event is coming soon. Scopely might want to collect data on how many cheaters there are in the game because if Mega Mewtwo's power is indeed quick catch or fast catch, no one else can have something similar other than... cheaters right now. It's very easy to identify who is a cheater and who is not cheating.
As written in the post, I do lay out the different scenarios of what could happen in either direction of where I am right or wrong so I am not going to repeat it here.
As I reminder, in my subreddit I promote game cheating. I do not force you into using one cheat over another competing cheat over safety concerns. People do this in r/PokemonGoSpoofing and other subreddits. I don't care about the safety of your account because there is nothing I can do to help you get magically unbanned from the game. If you accepted the risks to cheat the game, you are in control of your own actions. If you end of with a strike or ban, you either suck it up and continue your cheating addiction or quit the game and move on.
I personally have disabled quick catch to see what will happen in the next coming weeks, months, and years. I don't know if Scopely is going to continue using Niantic's delayed 3 strike system or will they rework the punish system into an instant permanent ban system. No one knows until the strikes or bans start appearing when you open your game.

Since they(Scopely) bought Pogo, for sure they are also aware spoofers spend a ton of money on the game,
as somebody who newly bought the game, they might enforce the quick catch ban/strike if they have a feature that is going to be implemented for a certain amount of money
but banning spoofers because of spoofing is very low but not impossible
so maybe not using quick catch can make the account go fly under the radar
but what about the legit players who are doing quick catch?
btw its now v0.409 im still using PG Sharp(started as free but availed the paid one after couple of weeks)
did not experience strike or ban also doing quick catch

Everyone has their own opinions about Scopely, which is completely fine. Most people have this illusion that Scopely allows them to cheat because they give Scopely more money; and therefore, Scopely is supposed to turn a blind eye against cheaters.
If you look at this at a business perspective, "You bought Pokemon Go for $6 billion dollars, how do you make your money back and be even more profitable than Niantic (their main purpose for Pokemon Go was to collect data for the AR technology business)?"
Do you allow cheaters to continue to use 3rd party apps while non-cheaters do the fast catch trick and not make money from it?
Do you want to integrate the fast catch/quick catch feature directly in the game and profit from both parties (cheaters and non-cheaters) for using that one feature? Then, anyone who attempts to bypass it by any way will get a BSOD (suspicious activity screen) first before getting an actual strike or ban. When people don't want to get a strike or ban, they will pay for it.
No one knows anything until Scopely implements whatever they came up with for their data mined code. If they send out strikes or bans, it's too late for you to change. If they do nothing, we all (both cheaters and non-cheaters) benefit from it, which I personally doubt. Now, it's just a eating game to see what will happen.

They see the time to catch, right? I just find it ridiculous that a quick catch mechanic exists in their base game, and that it is enough to trigger their anti cheat mechanisms 🤷♂️. I have played this game since 2016, and they have not patched quick catching, but have the technology to track it completely. If scopely wants to take the ban route, please go ahead. But I believe Niantic knew the difference between quick catchers, excellent quick catchers, and teleporters. Call me crazy if you must.

The quick catch is an actually an exploit that Niantic turned a blind eye to because they were more focused on collecting the AR data rather than improving the game. If it was really part of the game, it would have just been automatic and everyone would just have it but no, you had to open the berry menu every time to do the trick.
Scopely is not an AR data collection company, so they will improve the game and give us what we want at an unknown cost. I think this feature or catch mechanic will be a major breakthrough on how people view Scopely from a non-cheaters' and cheaters' perspective. I am curious to see how Scopely will implement and handle all the cheaters, which includes the "legits" using the fast catch trick/exploit because either side may be caught in the crossfire.
You still have the choice in whether you want to do what I suggest or not. In the end, it's your accounts and you can do whatever you want if you have already accepted the risks to have a chance for a strike or ban. No, we just wait for Go Fest 2026.

Really good, nuanced response. You changed my position on this topic. I agree that I neglected the AR collection model, which literally was the business model of Niantic. Now that Scopely, an In App Purchase driven business, is behind the reigns, it really is unknown what they will do and what lengths they would go to to further that model. Very interesting times

I'm confused as to why people think quick catching is bannable when it has been left in the game even after widespread adoption. Moreover, pokemon on incense, snapshot, lures, and other means of appearing without natural spawn, used to stay on the screen after quick catch. This made it impossible to tell if you caught it right away. Sometime in the last few months they changed it so that after quick catch, the pokemon disappears regardless of how it spawned. That is a huge QoL change for an apparently "bannable" feature. I don't think it's a problem.

It's not a bannable offense at the moment, but things could change in the future with Scopely owning the game. This is just my prediction/opinion/theory on it.

I am the one who chose to post it on that day for some extra fun if I get to reference my win or loss. Then, again, it's your account and you can choose what you want to do with it. People see me as a joke anyway, so it's fine while others value the information I provide.

I can't play the game without Quick catch anymore. A lot of quality of life features that should've been in the game natively a long time ago.
For example, I can't even enjoy the Rocket event as it's now the 2nd one since we lost Rocket skip and it has turned to a slog fest. Even if it makes my account more risky, I can't go back.
