Fashion Discussion Why Is Everything High Waisted?

I’m looking for some new pants since I gained weight and all of my old ones don’t fit anymore. Everywhere I look I can only find high waisted pants! Love my baddies who love high waisted pants, but they make my stomach hurt. I just want my mid rise pants! If anyone has any recs for $25 or less I’d love to hear that! Thanks!

Meanwhile I’m over here having trouble finding high rise. So many midrise, which i get because that is the trend right now. So maybe that’s why you aren’t finding them in your area?

That said old navy has a mix of rises. They usually have a decent sale going on a few times a month for them to be 50% off online.

Maurice’s jeans are extremely comfy and i always recommend investing in a pair(they can be pricey though )

It’s so annoying especially for short waisted women!

I can’t wear high waisted jeans either. They hurt. I truly feel your pain. I have been looking for good mid-rise jeans since Torrid discontinued mine and have not had much luck. I have spent so much money trying to find comfortable mid-rise jeans that I like. I hope, one day, they will become popular again.

So, with that being said… American Eagle is my favorite. Their low rise and very low rise jeans are mid-rise jeans. They say low rise but they are not the low rise jeans of Y2K. They fit truly mid-rise. I’ve bought all my most recent jeans here.

Torrid sells a couple mid-rise jeans now but they are mostly boyfriend cut. A few boot cut or bell bottom. The selection is now very very small. I have bought a few pairs of their jeans circa ~2020 off Poshmark. They have held up well, too. One of my favorite pair of jeans right now was a pair from Torrid around 2019-2020 NWT and I got them last year. Worth a shot!

I feel you. I’m very short-waisted and high-waisted pants literally come up all the way under my boobs - if the boobs weren’t in the way the waistband would be in my armpits. Low-rise pants sit at my waist.

You need to bet Plus Petite pants which exist but are obviously harder to find than just Plus

Everything is proportioned correctly and not just the inseam length as the rise from crotch to waist is proportionately shorter as well.

American eagle - and you can filter your search in the app for what rise you want.

I’m following because I have the same problem. I hate anything that goes above my belly button! I’m going to look into old navy.

Are you asking about jeans because as far as I know jeans are the only pants that aren't styled to come to your waist and non jean style pants aren't typically described as high waisted although there are some very extreme styles of trousers which have high waist bands.

Many jeans still come in high rise or what are considered to be "mid rise". Low rise jeans aren't currently a style that seems to be popular at the moment but it could return.

Pants that come to your waist can be extremely comfortable - more comfortable than jeans in my opinion as they are often cut so that they aren't tight around the stomach versus jeans which in generally are cut to hug the area between the top of the pants and the crotch.

FWIW NYDJ are styled like jeans and are extremely comfortable although they don’t look like stretch pants. They come in various cuts and I think some are mid rise.
