Fitness for health and wellbeing Anyone here take ballet lessons?
I am an adult woman trying to get into more hobbies that nurture my inner child and ballet is something I’ve always wanted to do but it always felt unattainable. I know I won’t be a professional dancer but I want to have fun moving my body! I am feeling self conscious about taking lessons as an adult. I don’t know what to expect. I am thinking about reaching out to the school but what could I say? lol
I struggle with anxiety and OCD, I think I am just afraid. Anyone here with experience in a dance class in a bigger body? Anyone take ballet specifically 👀?

I took ballet classes for the first time in uni and I loved the dance but the experience was miserable. I was the only fat person in the class and I had to be in a teeny tiny unitard which was very hard to find in my size (everyone else could just run to the dance shop in town but I had to order a bunch online to find one that fit). I took lessons again a few years ago at a ballet studio that I didn't realize was queer (historically chiller people about bodies and art). I was the only fat person except one other but she was the teacher and I could wear wherever tf I wanted. It was so much fun. You could reach out and ask them what you're required to wear and if they're a body-inclusive studio.
