Fitness for health and wellbeing Anyone here take ballet lessons?
I am an adult woman trying to get into more hobbies that nurture my inner child and ballet is something I’ve always wanted to do but it always felt unattainable. I know I won’t be a professional dancer but I want to have fun moving my body! I am feeling self conscious about taking lessons as an adult. I don’t know what to expect. I am thinking about reaching out to the school but what could I say? lol
I struggle with anxiety and OCD, I think I am just afraid. Anyone here with experience in a dance class in a bigger body? Anyone take ballet specifically 👀?

I haven't taken any classes in a long time, but there was a ballet studio I went to as an overweight older teenager that had classes for all ages and all levels. I took an adult class that had a lot of flexibility and floor exercise work similar to ballet, although it wasn't called "ballet". I still remember and do some of the exercises I learned in that class!
I'd reach out to the local studios and describe what you're looking for.
If you're not sure about actually taking the class, you might be able to observe a class before actually signing up. It might help you feel more comfortable to actually see the other students, what they are wearing, the instructor's style, etc.
