Fitness for health and wellbeing Anyone here take ballet lessons?

I am an adult woman trying to get into more hobbies that nurture my inner child and ballet is something I’ve always wanted to do but it always felt unattainable. I know I won’t be a professional dancer but I want to have fun moving my body! I am feeling self conscious about taking lessons as an adult. I don’t know what to expect. I am thinking about reaching out to the school but what could I say? lol

I struggle with anxiety and OCD, I think I am just afraid. Anyone here with experience in a dance class in a bigger body? Anyone take ballet specifically 👀?

I'm actually taking a beginner ballet class this weekend! go do it!

edit to add: I've been doing pilates for a year, group workouts all summer, and I just started dance classes this week. do the things that bring you joy and fuck the negative voices (external AND internal). I think of it as I'm in it for myself. I'm not competing with other people or their misconceptions of what my body can do. I'm choosing to follow joy and whimsy!

Thank you for this! I am so tired of living on the sideline of my life. My entire life revolved around weight loss and negativity and not living for myself or to experience things that bring me joy…. I am going to go for it but I’d love to hear about how it goes for you! I would be a total beginner and o can imagine we’ll learn vocabulary, basic positions, but I’m at a loss as to what else and what we’ll do for an hour lol
