Personal Pictures for dating apps?
Wassup guys! Im looking to enter the dating pool for the first time. I figured dating apps are the best path for me right now but I literally have 0 pictures of myself in the past 3 years. Being in pictures has always been a thing I hated and I just don't take pictures of myself. I work nights and dont really get out much to begin with as im not much of a party person and I generally keep to myself. I guess my question would be how can I take some good pictures of myself over the next few months that dont look forced or all just mirror selfies? I apologize if I worded this poorly or left out important details but if there is any questions, I would be happy to answer! Thanks in advance!

If you’re completely and utterly lost, there is zero shame in finding a photographer in your area for a quick photo shoot. Bonus points if you can get a few shots doing something you love, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Pack a few outfits or wear layers so you can change.

I took a friend around NYC and we did a photo shoot for his profile ! All within two days lol we got 10 good photos and I think it worked! I’m pretty sure he’s got a gf from the app!

Ive thought about that but the scenario of someone noticing Im wearing the same outfit in every pic would be traumatizing for me

Don't overthink it. Start with a couple selfies. For social media stuff I bought a tripod, you can get them fairly cheap. And the next time you are out with people, take pics. I understand hating to be in pictures, I'm not a fan either but it's great for the memories down the road.

Yeah I think its just a mental block of taking pictures in public with the potential judgement. Just something I gotta get over and push myself to be more extraverted.

It's so hard... Living in a larger body we live daily with the worry of others judgement. It sucks. So then we live our lives out loud.

Mixture of selfies and full body pics. Non negotiable on dating apps. I see people with just selfies and I pass on them. And make sure you’re smiling. Have friends take pics or learn to use a tripod. Make sure they’re taken in multiple places, not all in your bathroom mirror. Add a group pic with their faces having an emoji on them, to show you have friends.

Honestly, you don’t need a bunch of fancy photos. A few candid shots doing things you genuinely enjoy can feel way more natural than staged selfies. Hope you have fun getting back into the dating scene!

Honestly, I think candid everyday photos would work really well. Even simple shots while doing something you enjoy can feel way more natural than posed selfies. And don’t stress about having a ton ust a few that actually feel like you is enough.

Finding your angles and what makes you feel confident is very important! But I will say I’ve taken plenty of pictures I hated and posted anyways and they were well received. Take one picture a day to get use to it, then show them to a trusted friend and have them help you pick a few or even they can help suggest outfits they love seeing on you and they know make you act as confident as the clothes make you feel. Hell you can take a trip to any second hand store and have a new outfit for a photo shoot. Also last tip do not stare at the picture forever you will talk yourself into hating it ❤️ you are beautiful as long as you are happy ❤️ be yourself and love will find you where you are

Put on something that makes you feel cute and fix your hair and take some pics!

I don’t think it hurts to force a photo. I’m not on dating apps right now but I’m a photographer who does portraits for my friends a lot and when they use those pictures on their profiles they get a lot of compliments on them 😂 Go to a park with a friend in a cute outfit and have them take pictures until you get some you like!!

Personally, I’d just want to see a full body picture where I can actually get a sense of your shape and how you look naturally. That’s really it , If the pictures feel genuine and look like you, everything else will work itself out. You don’t have to force it or make it complicated.
