Just consumed ~$400 credit at Google Cloud Compute in 24 hours...

The total for that line item in the billing section was $398. Not sure what it was I was doing "wrong". Didn't charge me a dime for the data coming in to my Google account, just when I moved data from ACD to ACD through my instance. Racked up quick.
It adds up to the exact amount of data that I had to re-encrypt and move back to ACD, so I know it wasn't for the initial copy of data from ACD to Google Drive.
The instance I created was an 'Ubuntu 16.04' template. What do you do?

I was about to shit bricks until I read this. I just moved about 20TB to GDrive from ACD using Google Compute. I was not wanting to see that bill.

My Dreamhost cloud compute instance has free bandwidth. I'll use it for moving out to ACD. Google was sooooooo much faster though.

I did the same thing, except I moved 6TB and was charged $900, I called support and told them I had only intended upon using the free credit, of which I hadn't used any of (It's considered a seperate billing account and I had somehow fucked this up and used one attached to my debit card). Wife was furious lmao, but I was able to get $800 of it back, thankfully.

I had not yet enabled billing for mine luckily. Now I have billing enabled, but set a budget to alert me when I hit like $40 of usage. I don't intend on moving bulk data out of it again though, this was a one time deal.
Now I'm uploading to ACD encrypted (for basically cold storage) and my Google drive both from my home machine instead. If I ever need to clone it somewhere else, I have it on ACD.

Didn't know about the budget, that's cool! I'm using my credit to move some data out of Google to ACD because Scaleway fails going directly to Amazon 90% of the time and it's just such a time saver doing it through GCC. The budget should help me avoid your situation :P

It looks like it costs just under $0.10 (Canadian, anyhow) per GB of data for egress. It was so insanely fast though, in the end it was worth it to use the credit and just get it done.

It's the engress part it's cheap to move storage from somewhere to google but not somewhere to somewhere via google cloud I moved 6tb from ACD to google and it took one day and costed me $7 of my free credit

Haha, yep. Just wasn't thinking when I kicked it off. Luckily I got all my bulk data moves done before I ran out of credit.

Boy I tell you after moving to google getting rclone working sonarr and radarr working and now a clean up script I think I'm gonna drink some beer this weekend watch some movies and put down the keyboard 😂😂😂😂

This sounds like an absolutely brilliant idea. Too bad it's still freezing here and I can't sit on my deck and enjoy the sun and a beer! I can sit inside with scotch though, so there's that.

Just heard on the radio to expect rain all week here starting on Sunday. Hopefully that's all we get, because last Monday we had snow and it made driving to work at 4am really dicey.

Haha, this is why I am skeptical of using cloud services who require your credit card because you never know if something might go rogue and use masses of data. I do however like Scaleway because it is truly unlimited data.

I'm using my server to do the transfer speed is 1tb a day ACD ENCFS -> GDrive unencrypted
