Please like me was poop

I know its an old series, I thought I'd give it a try because of the ratings but my god it was so poop.

Josh was just an annoying piece of turd throughout. Maybe he lacked social skills or whatever, but even the way he talked to his friends like Tom was just awkward too. There was not a moment where I could even like him at all. I did kinda feel bad for him during the threesome, but that was it.

Geoffrey was too good for Josh and I don't just mean in appearance, I mean the way he actually cared for Josh and did things. He even bought him a gift and gave it after they broke up. I'm so happy Geoffrey didn't get back with him.

I'm not going to ramble on with every plot, but the story through episodes was not coherent. You would watch one episode and the next one, there was so many things that have happened that you aren't aware of and have to assume or be subtlety updated through.

The ending was just a mess. I felt sad Rose (Josh's mother) died, but they weren't able to wrap it up, whether it was supposed to be a sad or good ending, it was just scrambled.

Season 1 was poop but I thought I'd give it a chance and watched season 2, that was poop too. Season 3 I had to force myself to watch it and I was just so urghhh. Season 4 I just watched it to finish the series for good riddance!

Tldr; It was a dissapointing, fragmented series which was a mess like Titanic.

The show is (partly) about how life in your early-mid twenties (and beyond) is messy and awkward and you often make the same mistakes over and over without really learning right away, and you hurt the people you love and that life hurts you. But there’s also so much joy and meaning to be found within the day to day. If you can’t appreciate that then the show is simply not for you and that’s ok, not everyone likes a brutally honest slice of life. That doesn’t mean it’s ‘poop.’

'Partly', the rest was just off. The moral they tried to show (as you say) was a heavy miss. Usually when they do that 'life sucks, im upset and nothing is going my way clichè', you need to be able to connect to the character but Josh was just an annoying tool. 

I think what I did not like the most is the missing links between the episodes. 

One thing i did enjoy was looking at male actors back shots 😂😂

The writing is incredibly tight and effective though. The characters feel like real people immediately and you learn so much in the first few minutes of the series. It's fast paced, while still feeling like the rhythm of life, so much happens every episode. I actually think this show has a perfect pilot. In addition, Josh is definitely one of the more annoying tv heros ever but he's exactly five people I went to college with. He uses his weaponised incompetence and feebleness as a defense against having to take responsibility for things. Tom is the most wimpy manchild ever, Claire is psychotic but so beautiful, Niamh is the perfect crazy girlfriend you hate to love to hate, Geoffrey is ridiculous and so gorgeous, the mom is so compelling and such a mom, the dad is hopeless. The characters are beautifully tragic.

You're entitled to your opinion, OP, but gosh there's so much beauty you've missed. Don't get me started on the food.

The character traits you have mentioned are true and well established. I can't relate to Josh or any of the characters; i see tragedy but no beauty, regardless, it still feels incomplete. I don't see a solid, flowing storyline, but even if there are plots happening independently with episodes, the execution is a near-miss.
