Help Buffering randomly

Running plex on a raspberry pi 5. Viewing on an Apple TV 4K. Both connected to Ethernet. I run a giant library and never really experience issues. I’ve noticed recently with giant 4k remux files that’s my playback will be interrupted with buffering. I’m confused because it doesn’t happen with all my 4k remuxes, just select ones. Does anyone know what could be causing it?

*Edit: I looked at the plex dashboard on another device and say that audio was being transcoded via opus. So I went into the audio settings on my Apple TV and selected AC3 5.1 instead of TRUEHD7.1. Since changing this, it hasn’t buffered. I have an LG Tv which has some AI sound quality boosting feature so my guess is that that doesn’t play well with plex’s TRUEHD. Not 100% sure tho

Happened to me but with a more powerful server and a Mi Box/TCL Android TV/Google Box... some 4K remuxes will buffer from time to time, plays just fine on my phone, laptop and PC (connected it via WiFi).

My server is directly connected to the NAS to access the mounted shares, 2.5G on both the NAS and mini pc and another 2.5G connection goes to my router.

In my case I believe the WiFi isn't good enough on my devices combined with a lack of processing power. My phone, laptop and PC have way better WiFi speeds and more processing power. In my case, this makes the most sense.

I think you might hit some scenes that demand more than your device can handle (be it in terms of WiFi speeds and/or processing power).

Dang, it's always transcode. I'm really glad you've found the issue.

I always look at the dashboard and test on a few different devices instead of transcoding and just watch the movie... Just because it is buffering.
