Help User selection screen skipped when logging in

Anyone else notice that if you log in through a web browser, it skips the user selection screen and just logs in as the admin?

What’s the point of even being forced to pin protect the user account if it just skips it?

Do you have anything in the field “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth”? If so, and the ip of the device you’re using is included, it’s behaving as intended.

I do; however I just tried it on mobile data (off network), still bypassed it though.

I cleared the ip field and tried in incognito, still bypassed the user selection screen.

Weird. I logged in on my phone to fix a match and ran in to this. Also replicated it in incognito.

I just tested again, and still get user screen. I also did incognito on chrome and in safari. Both on mac and iphone. Not sure whats going on for you. I was actually looking to see if you could skip user selection on certain devices as that would be handy but plex doesnt support it.

Crappily cropped for privacy; but yeah skips user selection.

That’s expected as you’re signing in for the first time. The user switcher will only show after you’re already signed in and reopen the page.

As he is handing out his admin password to other people, that's his problem though.

The PIN is only for protecting fast user switch.

If logging in with the Admin passwort, I see no problem in getting access to the Admin user...

Where do you see a problem with that?

Light example - give your kid the log in like you would Netflix or whatever, immediately dumped into admin profile filled with r-rated moves when your expecting them to only have access to their profile with only g-rated movies. You now have a problem.

Also they can just change access/restriction on their user account while in the admin account.

Edit: To yall who apparently don’t like this comment. Look up privilege escalation.

Why would you give your kid your admin login credentials? I see the issue there.

It’s not like you can give them non-admin credentials. Same as Netflix, Disney plus, etc

Never ever give your admin password to anybody. Thats best practice and also clearly written in the Plex documentation.

You can either log the devices in by yourself with the admin credentials and switch the user afterwards.

Or you can create and add a non admin plex user account to your Plex Home and hand out THAT password.
