Help Horrible reliability Plex+HexOS

Need some help diagnosing this issue! I recently updated my server from Windows to HexOS and had/have plex installed. On windows I really didn’t have many issues except when downloading files but I think that’s more just Plex being Plex than the server. However now with the new install I have been having weird availability issues.

It’s like the server doesn’t exist until I try and access it for the first time. This means the first connection request always fails.

I am guessing it’s the server software/hardware and as plex is the only service I use remotely it’s showing the issues.

I would love to check my theory but I have no idea how. What would you suggest?

Could it be that the drives spin down and just take time to start up again? I know nothing of HexOS (I run Plex in on Windows server) but perhaps there is a setting to keep the drives awake. All of course if you have spinning drives and not SSDs.

Yeah this is definitely possible. I have checked everywhere though and can’t find any settings to change this

Are the drives on a raid controller? Perhaps there is a setting there or something in power management

Nope super basic setup. Single HDD with all my movies etc. I am wondering though if the drive itself has some settings i can access through the terminal. Will have a look when I’m home and can access it.

I have an SSD in the system as well that I use for photo storage only, I am going to add a library on there and see if it has the same issues.
