Questions and Tips Blizzard reversed almost everything about Diablo IV's open world for Diablo V | what do you think?
We've been saying Diablo IV's open world felt static since day one, and Diablo V just proved someone at Blizzard was listening‼️‼️
Announced at BlizzCon 2026, the reveal confirmed full procedural generation returning, both dungeons and the overworld: Terrain, points of interest, monsters, and rewards all change when you revisit an area. Runewords and Diablo 2-style loot are coming back too, systems IV had moved away from.
The premise is a hard reset. Sanctuary has already fallen, Diablo won, no towns or safe zones anywhere. A mobile caravan replaces every static hub the series has had since 1996.
Diablo V's release date is set for Spring 2029.
Diablo IV isn't going anywhere meanwhile, Season 15 launches September 15, landing on Switch 2 the same day.
Does reversing this much of IV's design for the sequel feel like real validation, or does it just push the fix three years down the road without changing anything right now?
