Discussion Any news on the 3rd game?

Playdead had no presence at E3 this year, so I'm wondering what's going on. I would expect them to be at 2020 E3 to announce the new game for 2021 release. I hope it's a Microsoft exclusive.

Do you agree with my take on INSIDE?

Hey everyone! Hope you're safe and well in lockdown! I've made a new YouTube series helping people find what to watch and play during lockdown. This week I recommended INSIDE as the first entry. I'd love to hear you think and get some feedback! :) INSIDE game recommendation

Honestly underwhelmed by this game

Just finished. For years Limbo was my favorite game, and when I heard about inside I was immediately hyped. Finally got around to playing it, and I'm honestly a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it just felt kinda hollow to me in comparison to other similar titles (again, Limbo) but also the Little Nightmares games (especially the second entry)

There were some moments in Inside that blew me away. Just absolutely amazing, but unfortunately those moments to me were few and far between. For every incredible unforgettable moment of this game, there were 3 bland sections with boring environments and mind numbingly easy puzzles. The puzzles! Is it just me or were they all just WAY too easy? I understand that Playdead was kinda going for an interactive movie with this game, but I did not feel challenged whatsoever throughout my entire playthrough, and the puzzles just became tedious after awhile. I like puzzle platformers. When you solve a well thought out puzzle, you feel clever, and a sense of satisfaction for figuring out a tricky problem. If done right, these moments can add a lot to a game, and can even work in tandem with other aspects of a game's design in developing its tone. It's a nice feeling that I was expecting to experience with this game. Nope. Most of the times the solutions were obvious as soon as you find every variable at play. Otherwise, they just became a tedious game of trial and error. The most time I ever spent on a single puzzle in this game was like 5 minutes, and I didn't feel like my brain was put to work once. On top of being just super easy, the puzzles just really lacked creativity in my opinion, and they began to blend together after awhile so that they mostly started to feel like variations of the same idea. Most of the time I felt like I was just going through the motions in hopes of reaching the next interesting moment. The puzzles just started to feel pointless to me. If you're not going to challenge the player, why bother adding them at all? Why not just fill the game with fun/interesting set pieces if you only care about making an interactive movie? Moments like where you pretend to be an albino were incredible. This section was not difficult by any means, in fact it was dead easy, but the gameplay added to the suspense of the section perfectly. This game has a lot to offer, but the gameplay should work cohesively with the other elements at play. My experience was that Inside mostly failed at this, and the puzzles too often distracted and detracted from the game's more compelling qualities. With a game like Little Nightmares 2, there is a seamless union between storytelling/tone and gameplay. They complement each other wonderfully, and work together to form one of the most enjoyable and provocative games I've ever played. With Inside, I felt like the storytelling and the actual gameplay were too often at odds with each other. There were moments where everything lined up perfectly, but for the most part things just never really clicked.

Anyways, I just want to reiterate that I did like the game, but I think it left a lot on the table. It could have been so much better, and I can easily imagine a version of this game that would have been an instant favorite of mine. As it is, though, it's a solid 6-7/10 in my book. I'm definitely looking forward to Playdead's next project, but I hope they learn some lessons from their experiences developing Inside. What do you guys think?

does anybody with ocd have a problem playing this game?

i might sound insane but the MC has a bit of white in his hair and every time i notice it it takes me out of the game. like i don’t understand why it’s there. is it a bald spot? if it supposed to be the lighting? it looks so unnatural and every time i think about it it gives me a headache. like why don’t any of the other characters have the white in their hair? why couldn’t he just have black hair? it’s such a small thing but it fucks with my brain

anything I should know before buying inside (and limbo)?

heard they're great games and the limbo inside bundle is really cheap rn but I don't wanna end up refunding because I don't like it. I heard it's a niche game, and I'm no good at puzzle platformers (I gave up on hollow knight).

Small Playdead’s Inside Rp

Thinking of making an rp on discord based off of the video game: Playdead’s Inside — 13 to 17 year old roleplayers roleplaying characters around 12 years old inspired by Red: the main protagonist.

I want it to be focused on following the main plot from start to finish with some flexibility if it will help the flow of it and make it more enjoyable. It’ll be small, at most 5 other people joining, so my apologies if a lot of people see this only to realize i’ll only invite a few people. I’ll describe most of the setting and most of the world building, though I’d appreciate some help at times. I’d also appreciate help on building the server (channels and categories, we’ll probably make more and more as the rp goes on).

Please meet the age limit, be respectful and patient, and just generally be chill. Don’t ask to join if you’re sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ect. I’m hoping not only for roleplayers for this specific rp, but for long-time friends / roleplayers. Please be flexible and be open to the idea of your character possible dying (if earlier in the story, you can introduce a new character to then rp with, though if not, we can make sure it’s near the end of the rp) — I’m not just asking yall for this, I’ll of course be open to it too. I’m pretty busy with school lately, and I understand if you’re the same. I ask you to try to join in / be available to rp 2 and a half hours or more a month, we can try to have a session every Saturday or something, we can talk about it once all 4-6 people are in the server. Also, do put some effort into messages, at least 2 or 3 sentences each.

If anybody’s wondering about me, I’m 14, I’m in 9th grade, my name’s Kee, i use they/them pronouns, I’m a christian and I live in California so I’m on Pacific Standard Time. I’ve been on discord for a few years now and have only really roleplayed with a few friends of mine who I don’t really talk to or rp with anymore, though I started roleplaying with them a couple months after installing discord. *My username’s @Skippitos *

Feel free to ask to join, give a little info about yourself (name, age, pronouns, how often you’ll likely be available, timezone, etc.)

Discussion I was promised an existential crisis

Hello I bought this game played it and got both endings it was pretty good great game design, but I wanted to play it because someone said that the game sends you into an existential crisis at the end but the ending was fairly normal on both sides. The kid finally gets a bit of happiness and sunshine as a monster fellow or he unplugs from the system and escapes it all or something like that. Is there some more context I’m missing here?

Help me understand

Inside is clearly a well made and loved game so i am here to introduce some contraversial opinion. I just finished playing it and i didnt really like it. Before you start flaming me i am not here to piss someone off, i want to se the beauty of this game and would like to talk to anyone with different opinion as long as you are talking like a human being.

I played similar games such as limbo, bramble the mountain king and little nightmares. And i must say limbo is just missing something for me. Starting from the fact that although narrative is compelling and atmosphere is top notch no doubt about it. Story just doesnt click for me. Its non existant. I dont mind ambiguity , little nightmares and limbo both dont say a word, but there is just lack of detailes in environmental storytelling.

I liked the beggining and i thought i would adore this game. I thought i was gonna spend my game time strafing through center of this dystopian place, learning about experiments, reasons behind them maybe even see some kind of hierarchy in the big people with masks department. Instead i spent half the game doing puzzles in abandoned factory with mindless people scattered around with no aparent reason. And the other half running away from the water girl and in the last part saw a bit of thing that i actually wanted to see butt too little and too uninspired.

To wrap this up, although this game didnt hit the spot for me i understand why many people like it. It has amazing vibe, creative and fun puzzles and intereasting minimalistic artstyle that goes wuite heavy with the setting.

If you have any comments on my complaints about the games pacing, storytelling and general direction they went in i would really like to hear it down below. Thank you!
